Over the course of the past week, numerous reports have been circulating regarding the status of Nia Jax in WWE, and the reason for her current leave of absence from the company.
Some sources have claimed Jax took the leave due to unhappiness with her current position on Raw, her pay scale, and the grueling WWE schedule. Other reports claimed rumors of Jax’s unhappiness have been overblown, and that she simply needed a break from WWE to rest up from the schedule and to heal a nagging back injury.
Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard has published a new report, claiming to have uncovered the real reason why Jax took a leave of absence from WWE, and Barrasso attributes it to Jax being unhappy with recent Raw creative plans.
“The reason behind Nia Jax’s much-discussed “leave of absence” has been uncovered, as Sports Illustrated learned that Jax balked at the idea of losing clean to Sasha Banks at TLC”, wrote Barrasso. “She called her cousin, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, to ask for his advice, and Johnson encouraged her to walk away if she was unhappy…Instead of tweeting about her unhappiness with the creative, Jax was willing to walk out to voice her displeasure.”

As we noted before, both WWE and Jax are maintaining she is not on a leave of absence from the company, and did not “walk out” of WWE Raw as previously speculated. Fellow Raw star Alexa Bliss corroborated WWE’s stance in a recent interview conducted for the New York Post, saying, “whatever [Jax] is going through, I wouldn’t necessarily call it a leave of absence.”
Despite her absence from WWE TV, Jax did resurface on Twitter during WWE TLC, and commented on Asuka’s main roster debut.
