Alex Telles is of interest to PSG – Le Parisien

Le Parisien report that 27-year-old Brazilian left-back Alex Telles is of interest to PSG ahead of a possible summer transfer window move.

The outlet claims that Brazilian reports from GauchaZH over the weekend that a deal is close between Les Parisiens and FC Porto worth between €20m and €25m are currently wide of the mark.

The French outlet does however report that PSG are interested in Alex Telles and Alex Telles is interested in a move to PSG, but that COVID-19 is blocking the French club from taking more concrete steps towards trying to conclude his signing.

Under contract until June 2021, Telles represents serious market value for Les Parisiens, who have identified the left-back area as somewhere they want to improve.

Montpellier Chairman Laurent Nicollin: “If we had finished last, I would’ve shut my mouth.”

Speaking to Le Figaro, Montpellier Chairman Laurent Nicollin was asked about Toulouse and Amiens’ intentions to legally contest their automatic relegation to Ligue 2 after the LFP decided to terminate the 2019/20 season and certify the final standings on a points per games played ratio.

“If there are legal challenges in the weeks to come, we risk not being paid the new round of TV rights money, and that could unleash a new crisis. You are going to say to me: “if you were Toulouse or Amiens, you would have done that too.” I don’t know, in fact, I do know. If we finish last, with a certain decency, I would have shut my mouth. I think like that today, with old age maybe I am becoming a big idiot.”

Allan Saint-Maximin on his reputation: “People think I do nothing, that I live off my “natural” ability.”

Speaking to France Football, Newcastle United’s French winger Allan Saint-Maximin discussed the his reputation as a talent player more than a hard-working player.

“People think I do nothing, that I live off my “natural” ability. I am not someone who likes to show what he has done, that likes to show off everything he does, who shows off in every room, posting videos, photos. Maybe because I am a believer too and in my faith it is not necessarily good to always show off what we do, as it is a form of vanity. And then we have to have a conception of the notion of work. Lionel Messi for example. Ok, he certainly has out of this world coordination qualities. But when you watch his handling of the ball, which is so special, I am convinced that it is because he must have walked around almost the entire time only with a ball. His touch, frequency, flexibility of his ankle were refined in all these moments. So then to say that he did not need to work, when I think that all the practice you do that goes back to your childhood is part of the job…”

PSG & Barcelona have made proposals to Miralem Pjanic (RMC)

Our colleagues at RMC Sport report that PSG and Barcelona have both made proposals to 30-year-old Bosnian international central midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

Sporting Director Leonardo continues to enter into talks with a number of possible midfield signings for this summer, and is currently in regular contact with the representatives of Houssem Aouar and Tiémoué Bakayoko. At the moment, his midfield focus is to sign a physical, robust player, but PSG are not ruling out the possibility of signing a second midfielder that is more creative. Especially if the club gets their way in their attempts to offload Julian Draxler.

The outlet claims that Pjanic has two concrete offers, one from PSG and one from Barcelona. The idea of signing Pjanic is not a new one for the capital club – Leonardo, during his first stint at PSG, already tried to sign him then. The idea of bringing Pjanic in this time has the unanimous backing of key decision-makers at PSG, according to the outlet.

However, Barcelona lead PSG in the race to land Pjanic. Owing to the current financial situation of Europe’s major clubs, brought about by COVID-19, many clubs are looking for swap deal arrangements, which is why Juventus have approached Chelsea to offer a swap deal involving Pjanic and Jorginho, according to Fabrizio Romano.

PSG don’t actually have that many players with which they can initiate swap deals, with Leandro Paredes and Julian Draxler the only viable candidates in midfield coming into this summer. The problem is that the Argentinian does not want to leave PSG and is well-liked by Thomas Tuchel, whilst Draxler is refusing to be a pawn in serving the club’s interests, with just 12 months remaining on his current contract.

Without a player exchange arrangement, it would appear unlikely that PSG would be willing to sanction a deal for Pjanic this summer. Barcelona on the other hand have far more ammunition to play with in the swap deal department, with Ivan Rakitic, Nelson Semedo, Arthur and Arturo Vidal all potentially on the market this summer.

For PSG and Barcelona, neither side intends to move to close any deals until earliest the end of this month, after the next UEFA meeting on 27th May to understand how the transfer window will work this summer, especially as it seems that the 2019/20 Champions’ League tournament will still play out in August.
