Pampero Firpo Passes Away At The Age of 89

A series of posts from his daughter on Twitter revealed that famed Argentinian/American wrestler Pampero Firpo has passed away at the age of 89. Firpo, real name Juan Kachmanian, made appearances for a variety of promotions from 1953 to 1986. He wrestled for WWC, Big Time Wrestling, NWA Hollywood and even the WWWF, before it was the WWF. After his retirement, he spent 25 years working for the USPS in San Jose.
In a note of trivia, Firpo is the one who created the catchphrase “Ohhh yeah!”, before it was adopted and popularized by the Macho Man Randy Savage.
His daughter Mary wrote on Twitter: “Pampero Firpo: My beloved father, Pampero Firpo, (Juan Kachmanian), passed away today just a few months shy of his 90th birthday. As a professional wrestler for over 30 years, he thrilled fans around the world, wrestling in 21 different countries across 5 continents. At home, he was loving, generous, and protective. He was faithful to God, devoted to his family, and made friends wherever he went. At the end, he expressed gratitude and peace for his extraordinary life well-lived. Thank you to his fans, friends, and colleagues who have shared your memories, friendship, love, prayers, and support with my dad and our family. It means the world to us. Notes on Matt Hardy, Priscilla Kelly, Kris Statlander, and Brian Pillman Jr.

– Kris Statlander recently spoke with Alicia Atout and discussed how she felt after signing with AEW, and how WWE was also interested in her.
On how she felt after signing with AEW:
“There’s a lot of thoughts going through my mind because the whole thing with WWE was interested in me also, so there’s a lot of stress with me because I didn’t know what I was going to do, I didn’t know what was the right choice. And you would think that it’s a dream come true for anybody to be offered a contract, but for me, getting signed was never an actual, legit goal of mine in wrestling, so I was like, ‘Oh, am I going to be happy, is this going to be something I want to do?’ So I was very nervous, I was very stressed about it, but I am thoroughly enjoying all my time I’ve been with AEW and all the opportunities they’ve given me so far and I have no regrets about it. So all is well.”

Speaking of Statlander…

Brian Pillman Jr. has made the move to the middleweight division, effective immediately. With the intention of climbing the rankings and challenging for the World Middleweight Championship, Pillman has high hopes for winning his first singles title in the league.
Standing in his way on the road to a title match: Jimmy Havoc and Priscilla Kelly.
A vicious and cunning duo, Havoc and Priscilla have a history of violence in the league dating back nearly two years when this unholy union first united.
A sinister force looking to put a reckoning on the division and challenge for the title himself, Havoc thrives on the misery of others.
With Pillman entering the 205 pound and under division, league officials quickly moved to make this match, arguably one of the biggest bouts within the middleweight division.
With both men jockeying to fast track a title bout, this match has championship implications.
Great Britain’s top ranked middleweight poses a challenge for Pillman, with Priscilla Kelly a wildcard in every encounter, Pillman will have to remain vigilant and mindful of outside forces ringside… including the trio known as Injustice.
