The Kickoff Show is over, and we now switch gears to the live pay-per-view portion of tonight’s WWE Survivor Series event from Boston, Mass.
WWE Survivor Series 2013
The show opens with Triple H’s theme music hitting. HHH and Stephanie McMahon come out. They announce that in addition to the WWE Championship match, there will be no physical interference in any match on tonight’s show. He says we’re going to kick off Survivor Series with a bang, as the show will begin with a traditional five-on-five elimination match. He then does his old D-Generation X “are you ready” deal.
From there, we go to the typical bad-ass video package intro for a WWE pay-per-view event. The video showcases the history of the feuds going into the top matches on tonight’s show.
Traditional Elimination Match
– The Usos, Goldust, Cody Rhodes & Rey Mysterio vs. The Shield & The Real Americans
Rey Mysterio comes out first, followed by The Usos. Finally, the WWE Tag-Team Champions make their way to the ring. Zeb Colter and The Real Americans come out first for the heel team, with Colter cutting a promo. He talks about the Boston Tea Party and twerking. He actually terks himself, and throws his back out in the process. As he continues to talk, Cody Rhodes cuts him off. He says no one paid to hear Colter talk and nobody wants to see him twerk. The Shield’s music hits and they come out through the crowd. Michael Cole talks about it being the one-year anniversary of The Shield in WWE. Dean Ambrose and Cody Rhodes kick things off for their respective teams. Ambrose takes the early advantage, knocking Rhodes down to the mat. Rhodes quickly fights back and blasts Ambrose with punches. The crowd is already heavily into this match. Ambrose argues a bit with the ref, and Rhodes rolls him up from behind. 1-2-3. Dean Ambrose is already eliminated from the match.
Ambrose tries to cheap shot Goldust before leaving, but Goldust ends up decking him with a punch. The other Shield members hit the ring but The Usos come in and clean house. The Real Americans come in and The Usos knock them out to the floor as well. One Uso flies over the top and crashes onto the guys on the floor on one side of the ring. The other Uso does the same on the opposite side. Back in the ring, Rhodes and Seth Rollins continue the legal action in the ring. Rhodes tags in Goldust and the crowd explodes. Wow, huge pop for Goldust. Goldust picks up where his little brother left off, going to work on Rollins in the ring. Antonio Cesaro makes the blind tag on Rollins and hits the ropes. When he hits the opposite side of the ropes, Jack Swagger tags himself in. Swagger and Cesaro double-team Goldust and now the heels are in control for the first time in the match.
The guys continue to double-team Goldust for a while, tagging in and out with each other to keep a fresh guy on top of the attack on Goldust. Goldust finally hits a bit DDT to slow them down and hits a crazy looking powerbomb kinda move on Cesaro. Amazing move by Goldust. Goldust finally tags in Mysterio and the little guy is flying all over the place, beating up Swagger. Mysterio drops Swagger throat-first across the ropes and hits him with the 6-1-9. He tags in Uso, and the Usos hit their finishing move top-rope slpash on Swagger. 1-2-3. Swagger has been eliminated. It’s now 5-on-3 in favor of the babyfaces.
Cesaro enters the ring and Uso immediately goes to work on him, but it doesn’t last long as Cesaro blasts Uso with a huge uppercut to regain the heel control of the match. Cesaro locks Uso up for the giant swing and the crowd explodes. Cesaro twirled Uso around 15 times. Cesaro locks up the other Uso and does the giat swing to him, twirling him around about 20 times. Cesaro is dizzy. Rhodes tags in and quickly pins a disoriented Cesaro. 1-2-3. Cesaro is eliminated.
It’s now just Rollins and Roman Reigns left on the heel team. The entire babyface team is still in the match. Reigns enters the ring and Rhodes uses his speed and quick-tags to keep fresh guys in to keep the offensive control over the big guy. Reigns’ power ends up being too much and he blasts Uso, who tagged in, before tagging Rollins in to continue where he left off. Reigns and Rollins exchange quick tags back-and-forth and slowly pick apart Uso. Jimmy finally tags in Jey Uso and Uso hits a big Samoan drop on Reigns. The babyfaces are back in control of the match.
Uso goes for his top-rope splash on Reigns, but Reigns gets his knees up in time. Reigns hits Uso with a huge spear and Jimmy Uso has been eliminated. Rhodes quickly comes in to go to work on Reigns. Reigns tags Rollins back in. Rhodes and Rollins are scrambling all over the place. Eventually, Reigns spears Rhodes and pins him. Rhodes is eliminated. It’s now 3-on-2 with Jey Uso, Rey Mysterio and Goldust still on their team and Reigns and Rollins left on theirs.
The action goes to the floor now as Uso and Reigns battle outside the ring. Back in the ring, Rollins eliminates Uso. It’s now two on two. Mysterio and Goldust against Rollins and Reigns. Rollins and Mysterio are the legal men in the ring. Mysterio is using his speed to keep from being grounded by Rollins. Mysterio goes up to the top but Rollins knocks him down and hits him with a dropkick in the corner. Rollins tags Reigns back in. Reigns baseball slides Mysterio under the bottom rope and onto the floor. Goldust goes over to check on Mysterio as the referee begins his count. Mysterio just barely gets back into the ring before the count of ten. As soon as he does, Reigns charges at him with a spear, but Mysterio moves and Reigns nails the ring post. Reigns tags in Rollins and Rollins blasts Goldust so Mysterio can’t make the tag. Mysterio rolls Rollins up out of nowhere and pins him. 1-2-3. Rollins is eliminated and Reigns is now by himself against Goldust and Mysterio.
Rollins hits some cheap shots on Mysterio before leaving. Reigns picks up where he left off and is blasting Mysterio with stomps on the ground. Reigns is overheard saying, “you came all the way back for this, just to get jobbed out?” to Mysterio while he continues beating on him in the corner. Mysterio finally lands a dropkick and drops the big guy. The crowd is clapping loudly now and Mysterio manages to make the tag to Goldust. Goldust comes in and hits a bunch of clotheslines on Reigns. Goldust hits a sidewalk slam on Reigns for a near fall. Goldust does the 10-punch count spot on top of Reigns in the corner. He powerslams Reigns and tries pinning him, but the big boy of The Shield manages to kick out at two and a half. Reigns muscles Goldust into the corner. Goldust hits Reigns with an elbow and climbs to the top backwards. Goldust turns in mid-air and nails Reigns with a cross body splash for another close near fall. The crowd is clapping like crazy again, rallying behind Goldust. Reigns blasts Goldust out of nowhere with a huge spear. 1-2-3. Goldust is eliminated.
We’re down to just Reigns and Mysterio. The big boy of the heel side and the little guy of the babyface side are all that remains. Mysterio blasts Reigns and sets him up for the 6-1-9. Mysterio hits the ropes and is running quickly at Reigns for a 6-1-9. Before he can hit it, however, Reigns quickly pops up and spears Mysterio on his way in. 1-2-3. Roman Reigns eliminated Rey Mysterio. The team of The Shield and The Real Americans wins, with Reigns as the sole survivor for his team.
Winners: The Shield & The Real Americans (sole survivor: Roman Reigns)
Backstage Segment: Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Kane & Randy Orton
Backstage, Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Kane are shown talking. Randy Orton comes in. Nobody acknowledges him so he does a sarcastic cough. He asks if after this past week “are we all on the same page still.” Stephanie sarcastically says, “hi Randy, I didn’t hear you come in or hear you knock, but it’s good to see you.” HHH asks if Orton is upset that he has no help tonight. HHH reminds Orton who he is. He’s the viper. The apex predator and the face of the WWE. Stephanie McMahon says, “now…go prove it.” Orton walks off.
WWE Intercontinental Title
– Big E. Langston (c) vs. Curtis Axel
Lilian Garcia informs us that the next match is for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Out comes the challenger, Curtis Axel. Out next is the current I-C champ, Big E. Langston. During Langston’s ring-walk, we see highlights from RAW of Langston defeating Axel to become the I-C champion. Michael Cole talks about past I-C champions such as The British Bulldog and then says their thoughts go out to The Dynamite Kid, who suffered a stroke this week. The referee holds up the title and the bell sounds. Our I-C title match is now officially underway.
Axel slaps on a head lock on the big powerlifting I-C champ but Langston breaks loose. They lock-up and Axel goes to work on Langston’s arm, pounding away at it before wrenching. Langston breaks Axel’s grip and tosses him across the ring. Langston backs Axel up into the corner, and catches a right hand and a couple of chops when the ref breaks it up. Langston ducks a clothesline and hits a huge shoulder tackle before spearing Axel in the corner. Langston pops Axel up and lets him fall before hitting a big flying shoulder block. Axel bails to the outside and Langston follows, hitting a right hand to the gut before sending Axel back into the ring. Axel catches Langston with a big forearm, then spears him through the ropes out to the floor. Axel runs off the apron with a monster clothesline on Langston on the floor.
The action resumes in the ring and Axel is stomping a mud-hole into Langston. He hits the ropes and nails Langston with a seated snapmare just like his father, Mr. Perfect. Axel clamps on a rear chin lock, but Langston fights up to his feet quickly. Langston tosses Axel off, avoids a kick, and hits a couple of clotheslines and a belly to belly suplex. Langston hits a big splash to Axel’s back, then pulls down the straps. Axel is able to connect with the perfect-plex, but Langston kicks out at two. Langston runs into an elbow in the corner, and catches Axel comes off the top, but Axel fights out. The finish comes when Axel goes for a big neckbreaker, but Langston shoves him off and hits the “Big Ending” for the 1-2-3. Langston retains.
Winner and STILL WWE Intercontinental Champion: Big E. Langston
After The Match
Renee Young interviews Langston right after his win in the ring. Langston keeps mentioning Boston for cheap pops. He says when he won the I-C title it’s just like when your Boston Red Sox became the World Series Champions. Wonder if that was an isolated promo, or if his gimmick will be to blatantly do multiple cheap pops everytime he talks. I hope that’s not going to be his gimmick, he’s better than that.
Backstage Segment: AJ Lee & Team AJ
Backstage, AJ Lee is talking about how she’s often called a dark, psychotic champion. She says she didn’t come this far to be taken down now. AJ says you should draw inspiration from her. AJ asks who’s with her. Everyone on AJ’s team is shown standing around her as the camera pans back. They ask if AJ thinks she’s better than them, and question how any of them can trust her. They point out that AJ has made enemies with every single one of them. AJ says this isn’t about them, it’s about how Total Divas doesn’t want any of them. She insults all of them one-by-one but then says Total Divas has new episodes airing on the E! network now and none of them are on any of them. She tells them to start their own show by stealing this one tonight. She hops away.
