WWE 205 Live Results (05/01): Who’s Next For Cedric Alexander

The show opens up with a recap of Buddy Murphy failing to make weight followed by the Gauntlet Match to determine the #1 contender for the Cruiserweight Title followed by Cedric Alexander’s successful title defense against Kalisto in Saudi Arabia. Corey Graves then says that the target on the champ’s back is only going to get bigger.
Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness and Percy Watson welcome us to tonight’s show. They inform us  that Murphy has weighed in at 205 pounds and will return tonight. They also inform us that Drew Gulak has requested and been given a rematch against Kalisto which will also happen tonight.
The Brian Kendrick & Gentleman Jack Gallagher vs. Akira Tozawa & Hideo Itami: Tozawa gets to work on Gallagher early on. Tozawa hits a combination of punches followed by a kick to the head. Tozawa hits a running back senton. Gallagher with a jawbreaker and both Kendrick and Itami are tagged in. Commentary reminds us that Itami legitimately crushed Kendrick’s face last time they were in the ring against each other. Big back and forth strikes from both wrestlers. Plenty of hefty strikes from Kendrick and Itami. Tozawa is tagged in and hits a big missile dropkick. Tozawa charges in and tosses Gallagher on the apron. Tozawa kicks Gallagher down to the floor and Kendrick lands a kick of his own. Tozawa in the wrong side of town now and can’t seem to make a tag. Kendrick tries to keep him grounded. The crowd starts an “Ah!” chant now. Tozawa finally tags out. Itami with kicks to the chest of Gallagher and knocks him to the floor. Itami heads to the second rope and swings Kendrick’s neck over the top rope. Itami heads back up top for a flying clothesline. Itami delivers multiple chops on Kendrick then hits a running dropkick to Kendrick in the corner. Itami looks to finish off Kendrick, but lands a kick that sends Kendrick out to the floor. Tozawa heads into the ring and hits a suicide dive taking out both opponents. Gallagher tries to fight off the duo. Tozawa gets control back and heads to the top rope, but Itami gets sent into the ropes and drops him down. Gallagher hits a massive headbutt and picks up the win. Winners: The Brian Kendrick & Gentleman Jack Gallagher

After the match, Itami looked annoyed with Tozawa. Tozawa tries to reassure him, but he gets shoved away straight down to the mat. Itami heads to the back on his own as a sadden Tozawa looks on.
We get a recap of Buddy Murphy attacking Cedric Alexander from behind during his Post-WrestleMania Championship Celebration. Buddy Murphy returns to action next.
We head backstage to the locker Room area where Drew Gulak addresses Kalisto and how he just squeaked by Gulak last week. Gulak says that with all that flipping and jumping around, that is not how people should win in his better vision of 205 Live. Gulak then says that Kalisto will tap-out.
We are shown Buddy Murphy’s weigh in and he is back under 205 lbs. Maverick welcomes him back and looks for a handshake, but Murphy just says “I want my title match” and heads off.

Buddy Murphy vs. Liam Louie: The crowd chants “Let’s go Jobber!” to start the match. Buddy Murphy off to a quick start. Murphy nails three powerbombs in a row and goes for a cover, but he lets Louie up, causing the referee to stop his count. The referee checks on Louie and decides to call the match. Winner via Referee Stoppage: Buddy Murphy
After the match, Murphy is heading up the ramp and Cedric Alexander’s music hits. He charges in and they start swinging away on each other. Alexander gets on top and swings away. Murphy tries to run off, but Alexander catches him for a moment. Alexander gets kicked away by Murphy. The crowd with a “Thank you Jobber” chant.
We head backstage where Dasha Fuentes interviews Cedric Alexander and asks him what just happened out there. Alexander says that he was just trying to give Murphy a taste of what he did a few weeks back. Alexander continues by saying that if Murphy wants a chance at the title, Murphy knows where to find him.

We learn Gentleman Jack Gallagher and The Brian Kendrick will face Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik next week.
We then get a promo from Lucha House Party. Kalisto says that it was an honor to face the champ in Saudi Arabia. Kalisto also says that the match didn’t go the way he wanted, but he’s ready to deal with Gulak tonight.
Drew Gulak vs. Kalisto: Gulak keeps Kalisto grounded in the first few moments of the match, but Kalisto uses his speed to get away from Gulak. Gulak is able to work on Kalisto for more mat wrestling. Gulak starts to focus on Kalisto’s knee. Gulak hits some chops on Kalisto’s chest. Kalisto gets to the top rope and hits a corkscrew arm drag that sends Gulak to the floor. Kalisto with another corkscrew flip to the floor and lands really hard. Gulak slams Kalisto into the apron and tosses him back in the ring. Gulak is able to lock in a Boston Crab to Kalisto in the center of the ring. Kalisto fights him off and lands a couple of kicks, but Gulak with a forearm straight to the mug of Kalisto. Gulak goes for a cover, but only a two count. Gulak tries to rip Kalisto’s mask off, but he gets sent out to the floor. Back in the ring, Kalisto hits a springboard dropkick. Gulak tries to escape to the floor and Kalisto follows up with a crossbody over the top rope. Gulak is back in the ring. Kalisto hits a springboard crossbody and goes for a cover, but only a two count. Gulak charges, but he gets sent out to the floor. Kalisto hits a knee-first springboard front flip to the floor on Gulak. Both are back in the ring. Kalisto goes for a cover, but only a two count.
Kalisto tries for salida del sol, but instead he hits the ropes and flips Gulak over for the cover, but only a two count. The crowd chants “This is awesome!” now. Kalisto hits a basement-rana then goes for a salida del sol, but Gulak reverses it into a dragon sleeper for the tap out victory. Winner: Drew Gulak

During the main event, we are also told that Buddy Murphy will take on Mustafa Ali on next week’s show.
After the match, Dorado and Metalik head out to check on their partner. Gulak looks on from ramp as 205 Live goes of the air.
