WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA — Forget the moguls and movies stars, in West Hollywood it’s the meter maid who reigns supreme. That is why Sep. 10, 2019 will go down in history as the day that Dana Schwartz defied the odds and beat the system.
Schwartz’s story of triumph started with Twitter where she sought justice after receiving a $53 parking ticket because her license plate frame protruded a hair’s breadth over the white parking-stall paint. Schwartz tweeted a photo of her parking ticket and car, and Twitter was quick to empathize.
“That’s friggen ridiculous,” one Twitter user said. “Oh hell naw,” said another.
In L.A., $53 can get you about 10 chili cheese dogs from Pink’s Hot Dogs, two cocktails at a rooftop bar, 2.65 adult tickets to LACMA and maybe four movie tickets (to a matinee, of course). But it can also get you a few thousand retweets on Twitter, and the attention of West Hollywood city officials.

West Hollywood Mayor John D’Amico responded to Schwartz with, “I’ll have our parking folks take a closer look.”
