Manchester United academy prospect Deji Sotona is reportedly the fastest player at the club.
New United signing Daniel James’ speed has been well documented as the Welshman has made a great start to life at Old Trafford, but he is a slouch compared to Sotona.
The 16-year-old Republic of Ireland youth international, has been clocked at a maximum speed of 22.9mph – nearly 2mph faster than James, according to the Mail Online.
Sotona, who plays for United’s Under 18s, has been tipped by coaches at Old Trafford to break into the first-team.
Sotona was Ireland’s national Under 14 sprint champion at the age of 12, so his speed has been well known for a while.
The winger — who has been likened to Ryan Giggs at old Trafford — is eligible to represent England, something the Football Association are said to be aware of.
In tests at United’s Carrington training ground Marcus Rashford (22.18mph), Daniel James (22.07mph) and Tahith Chong (22.36mph) were among the quickest.
