As noted, CM Punk and Colt Cabana were victorious this week in their defamation trial involving WWE doctor Chris Amann.
Amann was seeking damages which nearly totaled $80 million, however after the jury ruled Punk and Cabana were not culpable in the case, the two former WWE stars will pay nothing to Amann.

One of the more noteworthy items during the trial proceedings was the reveal that WWE doctors, such as Chris Amann, would hand out “Z-Paks” to wrestlers whenever they were requested. Zithromax, aka Azithromycin, also known as Z-Pak, is an antibiotic approved for treatment of respiratory, skin and other bacterial infections. According to WebMD, studies have linked the drug to side effects, including an increased risk of fatal heart problems.

In the case of WWE doctors handing out Z-Paks to wrestlers, it was noted in the CM Punk vs Amann case that often times, there was no record kept of the Z-Paks being handed out, which could potentially become a legal issue down the line.
Dave Meltzer speculated on the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that due to the trial testimony regarding backstage practices as it pertains to Z-Paks, WWE might need to alter how it handles the distribution medication, which might make it harder for talents to obtain the necessary drugs. “Talent might be unhappy because they’re going to have to go through more channels so it won’t be as easy,” speculated Meltzer. “I sense that because WWE is so conscious right now about its public image about anything.”
