SAN ANTONIO, TX — Federal authorities are investigating after shots were fired into a San Antonio building that houses an Immigration and Customs Enforcement office, the FBI said.
According to a statement, the shots were fired into the building located at 1777 NE Loop 410 at around 3 a.m. Shots were also fired at a nearby building either before or after the ICE office was hit.
The FBI noted that both buildings also house businesses completely unrelated to ICE.
Despite media reports that a person was taken into custody, an FBI spokeswoman told Patch no one is in custody.
A person was questioned near the scene but it was later determined they were not involved in the incident.
“These shootings were cowardly, brazen, violent acts, absolutely without justification and a threat to our entire community,” Christopher Combs, Special Agent in Charge at the FBI’s San Antonio division, said in a statement. “An attempt to attack federal employees is a federal crime with serious consequences. The FBI will relentlessly pursue every lead in this case to find the individuals who are responsible.”

The FBI is asking anyone with information to contact 210-225-6741 or submit tips online.
