If you inform police about any traffic rule violation by people, it can fetch you cash reward, bike or even a car, but you have to be in Goa. The Goa police traffic violation informants have won a car, bike and nearly Rs 67.42 lakh in incentives for being the eyes and the ears of the police, CM Manohar Parrikar told the state legislative assembly in a written reply on Thursday.
The scheme through which the residents help police nab the traffic rule violators is ‘traffic sentinel scheme’. But the scheme has been in the centre of controversy because many of the sentinels have been roughed up by the commuters for taking pictures of the traffic violations in parts of the state.
