Brighton boss Graham Potter has praised his team’s ‘courage and personality’ after they held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at home.
The first half saw plenty of drama as Mohamed Salah was sent through on goal by Roberto Firmino.
The forward finished the chance effectively, only for his goal to be ruled out by VAR.

Brighton were then given the chance to lead as Neco Williams brought down Aaron Connolly in the box.
But Neal Maupay put the penalty wide, keeping it goalless at half time.
The first goal was eventually scored in the second half by Diogo Jota.
The in-form Portuguese international ran past multiple challenges before sliding the ball into the bottom corner.
The drama continued in stoppage time as Brighton were awarded a penalty. Andy Robertson was deemed to have caught Danny Welbeck by the video assistant referee.
Pascal Gross scored their second penalty of the day, giving both sides a point in the Premier League.
Speaking after the draw, Potter told reporters: “It was a huge performance from us. Liverpool started well and we got away with a couple of opportunities but then we had a big chance ourselves. That gave us belief.
“We played with courage and personality. We got some fine margins on our side. I’m pleased with the performance and we are happy with the point.”
When asked about the penalty, he said: “I’ve not seen it closely. I don’t think it’s the most stone-wall penalty you will ever see but that’s where we’re at. Some decisions you’ll get and some you won’t. Unless we get computers doing linesman’s jobs and referees, I don’t know.
“You have to be fair to Liverpool, they are coming with less preparation time. They played on Wednesday and it’s an early kick-off. In the end, the boys put a lot into the game and played well.
“It’s [Aaron Connolly’s] first start for a while. He sprints around a lot and was coming back from some problems on international breaks. Aaron did great. I’ve not been in to see Adam Lallana yet. I think it was just another contact but I need to speak with the physios.”
