Parlour urges Arsenal to sign £50m Spurs man over Jorginho

Ray Parlour thinks Arsenal would be better off signing Dele Alli from Tottenham over Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.

Alli was left out as Spurs got their Premier League season going on Sunday after a disappointing opening day defeat, with a 5-2 victory over Southampton.

The midfielder has since emerged as a possible target for PSG, with Inter Milan also said to be interested.

Meanwhile, Houssem Aouar and Thomas Partey have been Mikel Arteta’s top midfield targets this summer at Arsenal, but with little headway made on either deal, the Gunners are looking into alternatives.

And Jorginho is a player they are interested in, according to a report in Sky Sports on Thursday.

However, Parlour reckons Alli would be a better “fit” for Arsenal with their need for goals from midfield.

“I think he’d be more of a fit than Jorginho, if I’m being honest, and I’ve always said they’re lacking goals from midfield,” Parlour told talkSPORT.

“But I don’t think Spurs would sell Dele Alli to Arsenal. I think there would be uproar by the Spurs fans if that happened. But he would certainly be a good fit for Arsenal.

“I’m trying to put a figure in my head to say how much he would be worth. I’d say £50m, I certainly believe he’s got a lot of good years left in him as a player so £50m has got to be the marker.

“One thing about Arsenal is that they are lacking goals from central midfield areas so I think he could tick that box especially where he can score goals, he can get you ten goals from midfield if he plays on a regular basis.

“Whether he can get more goals, Arteta… I don’t know. I’ve never worked under Arteta but what he’s done for the other players from what I’ve seen from the outside… certainly they’re responding to Arteta so I’m sure Dele Alli would be exactly the same.”
