Original Plans Revealed For CM Punk In 2014 Royal Rumble, News On Possible Big Breaks For Punk in Current Trial

The defamation and libel trial featuring former WWE star CM Punk vs WWE doctor Chris Amann continues in a Cook County Cook Court today, and ProWrestling.com will have the latest news from the trial as it continues to unfold.

On the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, some key trial details were revealed as it pertains to the proceedings which took place last week, and they are as follows.

-A possible big break for Punk in the trial came when the 2014 WWE Royal Rumble match was discussed, and more specifically, CM Punk’s participation. It was revealed that Punk’s elimination from the match came as planned, and he was in the match for a total of 49 minutes and 11 seconds.

Punk had thrown Kane out of the match early on, and the plan was for Kane to return to the match and eliminate Punk, thereby setting up Punk vs Triple H at WrestleMania that year.

Punk had complained after taking a clothesline from Kofi Kingston that he might have suffered a concussion, so the decision was made by WWE officials to have Punk’s elimination take place sooner than planned, in case Punk was legitimately injured. However, Punk ended up remaining in the bout for 40 minutes after he allegedly suffered the concussion.

When Punk was finally eliminated from the match, Kane continued beating Punk down on the outside and even put him through a table, which was all part of the original match plan. Dave Meltzer speculated that WWE allowing Kane to put a possibly concussed Punk through a table is “negligence of all negligence.”

Additionally, PW Stream is reporting another possible big break for Punk in the trial came last week when Doctor Amann reportedly admitted to breaking HIPPA laws:

Dr Amann, WWE’s doctor who is attempting to sue CM Punk, admitted under oath that he broke HIPAA laws. From all accounts, this is an open-and-shut case.
