F365 Says: Curse the Premier League and its homegroan-inducing stance
This campaign is the first time Leeds have been in the Premier League in 16 years. A big reason why this return was made possible is the remarkable job done by Bielsa.
In his two years at Elland Road, the Argentinian boss has overhauled the playing style of the Whites. Bielsa has turned them into one of the best teams to watch in all of English football.
Despite having such a glittering career managing around the globe, Bielsa has never had a job in the Premier League. Neville has told Stadium Astro that he cannot wait to see how he does in the English top-flight:
“I think it’s the most intriguing story in the Premier League this season how Bielsa will do in the Premier League.
“I think the first game – Liverpool v Leeds is amazing, I think it will be watched all around the world, but certainly will be a big draw in this country.”
Man Utd and Leeds United have only met on two occasions since the laters relegation from the Premier League.
The first was in the FA Cup Third Round in 2010. Jermaine Beckford scored the all-important goal to win the game 1-0 for Leeds at Old Trafford.
The other meeting came in the League Cup a year later. Man Utd got their payback this time, dispatching Leeds out of the competition with a 3-0 victory.
Neville also looked ahead to Man Utd’s game against Leeds at Elland Road later this season:
“I can’t wait for the game at Elland Road, I think it’s later in the season and I think, hopefully by then the fans will be back in the stadium and we’ll see one of the most incredible atmospheres.”
