Leeds linked with surprise move for Wolves winger Traore

Leeds United could make a surprise bid for Wolves winger Adama Traore in 2021, according to a report.

There’s plenty of speculation surrounding Traore as he continues to stall on a new contract with the club.

That’s led to links of a move away from the Molineux, with Liverpool very much interested.

According to 90Min, Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds could also try to sign the Spanish international.

The report states that both Bielsa and director of football Victor Orta like Traore and would consider having him at Leeds.

The Whites’ chances are boosted by the rumoured £50 million cash injection from their NFL links.

They see Traore as a great option to improve the squad. He is a proven Premier League performer, despite his poor form this season.

Traore was close to reaching a new deal with Wolves, but it still hasn’t gone through.

Club officials are believed to be angry over the deal taking so long.

His performances on the pitch haven’t helped either. The winger is yet to register a goal or assist in the Premier League after making 14 appearances.

That’s poor from a player who has set such high standards in recent years. His brilliant displays down the wing last term saw him become one of Wolves’ standout performers.

Leeds might be able to make Traore a more effective wing back, or preferably use him as a true winger.

He has struggled as a wing back under manager Nuno Espirito Santo, as the position demands more defensive work from the 24-year-old.

Bielsa’s attacking style of play might help the player to reach his best form again, if they can find the right position for him.

Leeds’ next fixture is against Burnley on Sunday 27th December. Wolves face Tottenham on the same day at 19:15.
