Kofi Kingston Update, PROGRESS Title Match, Cody Eyeing Stadiums

Kofi Kingston has been scheduled to wrestle Daniel Bryan at Fastlane later in March for the WWE Championship. However, he was pulled from the match by Vince McMahon during SmackDown last night and replaced by a returning Kevin Owens. Several fans were outraged by the decision, but it was quickly reported that WWE still had plans in mind for Kingston. Following up those reports, WrestleVotes tweeted that fans of Kofi’s should not worry too much about him losing the Fastlane match. Meanwhile, Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer said that WWE pulled him from the pay-per-view because the company likely now has plans to feature Kingston in a high profile spot during WrestleMania 35 in April.

To all the Kofi supporters: DO NOT PANIC!

PROGRESS Wrestling is coming back with a huge new Title vs. Title Match on their next big show. The United Kingdom-based indie promotion confirmed one of the matches for their upcoming Super Strong Style 16 show earlier today. The match will be between two men who also just so happen to work on the NXT UK roster as well. Trent Seven will be taking on WALTER in matches that feature both of their respective titles on the line. Seven is the current Atlas Champion while WALTER is the reigning PROGRESS World Champion right now. Which of these two European competitors will walk out as with both titles? That question will be answered during day 2 of PROGRESS Wrestling’s SSS 16 show on May 5th.

The biggest match in PROGRESS history takes place on Sunday 5th May, when World Champion @walteraut faces Atlas Champion @trentseven in a TITLE UNIFICATION MATCH. This huge clash goes down as part of #SSS16 at @yourallypally!

When the members of The Elite managed to sell out the Sears Centre for All In last year, it was a monumental achievement for the group. Over 10,000 fans attended the show in Chicago, and even more will be coming to Las Vegas for AEW’s Double or Nothing event in May. However, Cody Rhodes has now indicated that he is looking at even bigger venues for future AEW events. During an interview with the WINCLY podcast, Rhodes said that he is scouting some stadiums soon. While this does not confirm that AEW will be coming to a stadium any time soon, it does show that Rhodes is optimistic about going through with his dream to host an AEW event in a building with over 40,000 fans one day.

“To be frank, I have a couple site visits in the next few weeks that are stadiums,” said Rhodes. “So, it doesn’t mean anything. There’s no promises, no contracts, no nothing like that. Just me and my business partners checking out a few spots.”
