Jurgen Klopp joked that Liverpool “should sign Thiago in January” as he gave an update on the midfielder’s return from injury.
The Spaniard hasn’t featured since he was on the receiving end of a red-card challenge from Everton forward Richarlison at Goodison on October 17.
But Thiago is now said to be working with the club’s rehabilitation coaches for the first time since late October, when the extent of the damage became apparent.

And Klopp said the midfielder is chomping at the bit to get going, adding that James Milner and Xherdan Shaqiri are in a similar situation.
“He is eager,” Klopp said. “We are already making jokes here that we should sign Thiago in January!
“We will not rush it but it’s nice to have him on the pitch. He’s not in team training yet, that’s the final step.
“We will see how it is. Next week, can he be in team training?
“I don’t know yet, 100%. He has to pass a few tests on the pitch before we make that decision.
“With Milner it will be similar and with Shaq it will be similar.”
