IRS Headquarters Evacuated Due To Hazmat Situation: DC Fire

WASHINGTON, DC — Authorities have since given the all-clear after the IRS headquarters in D.C. was evacuated Friday morning after a hazmat incident, authorities say.

Firefighters responded to 1111 Constitution Avenue NW to investigate overheated storage batteries used for backup purposes, D.C. Fire and EMS tweeted at 10:19 a.m.

“No injuries reported,” they added. “Building fully evacuated due to abundance of caution due to possible fumes associated with this issue.”
