How WWE Might Aggressively React to ROH and NJPW’s Early G1 Supercard Success

As we noted earlier today, via The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, next year’s ROH and NJPW joint G1 Supercard show at Madison Square Garden saw immediate ticket sales success, as a reported 9,000 tickets were sold for the show in the first day. Even more impressive is the fact that the tickets were made available only to HonorClub members, and the general public on sale has yet to happen.

With the G1 Supercard show expected to sellout, PWInsider.com is reporting WWE has already taken notice of the early event success, and will very likely be taking action in response to the history-making event.

PWInsider added it would be very surprising if WWE does not make aggressive runs at acquiring top talents that the company feels are vital to ROH and NJPW’s success, prior to the Supercard event taking place the night before WrestleMania 35.

It’s worth noting that top talents such as The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Cody Rhodes have yet to appear on advertising for the G1 Supercard event, and the reason is because all of their contracts with ROH and NJPW expire before the event, and none of the talents have re-signed as of this writing.

PWInsider furthered that WWE will undoubtedly attempt to curtail any momentum ROH has going heading into the G1 Supercard, and signing top talents like The Bucks, Omega and Rhodes, might help curb the likely $1 million+ gate the event will draw.
