After weeks and weeks or rumors and speculation about Chris Jericho’s WWE status, it appears that he is now finally gone. On the most recent edition of Smackdown, Chris Jericho faced Kevin Owens in a rematch for the United States Championship, and he was defeated just two days after winning the belt at Payback. After the match was over, Jericho was attacked by Kevin Owens with a chair. This was done to write Jericho off of television for the next few months or so. Jericho thanked his fans on Instagram with the following statement: “No….thanks to all of you! You are my buddies, my pals; you are the #FRIENDSOFJERICHO…Cheer me on maaan! #seeyouagain #GOAT”
Chris Jericho is now officially gone from WWE, and Kevin Owens will be moving on to a feud with AJ Styles for the US Title. Jericho will be keeping himself busy, however, as he is expected to begin touring with his band Fozzy. He also recently released a new single entitled ‘Judas’, and is expected to be working on a new album with his band. Fozzy will embark on the ‘Judas Rising Tour’ on May 5th and the tour is expected to run through late July. In any case, his run with WWE has definitely come to a close for the foreseeable future.
Chris Jericho has been a fan favorite and a consistent highlight since returning to WWE back in January 2016. Jericho was never meant to be around as long as he was in his latest run; instead he kept signing contract extensions each month. The result was what some fans have called the best run of Chris Jericho’s entire wrestling career. Jericho did add that he will “see (the WWE Universe) again.” It’s unclear if he will return shortly after his tour is over, or if we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see him back in WWE. Unfortunately, no one will be making the list for many months to come.
