Chelsea star Reece James earns first England call-up

Chelsea full-back Reece James has earned his first call-up to the senior England squad ahead of the upcoming international triple-header.

The right-back established himself as a key member of Frank Lampard’s Chelsea squad after impressive performances at the start of last season and has continued to fluorish this term.

The 20-year-old now has a chance of making his England debut against Wales, Belgium or Denmark in the next couple of weeks.

It is as yet unclear whether James will replace one of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kieran Trippier or Kyle Walker in the squad.

There is speculation that it could be left-back Ben Chilwell he comes in to replace after Chelsea’s new signing was pictured at Tammy Abraham’s surprise 23rd birthday party on Saturday night, breaching Covid-19 regulations.

Jadon Sancho joined Chilwell at the party – for which Abraham has since apologised – and the FA are exptected to release an official squad update later on Monday.
