Atletico star ‘very flattered’ by £71m Man Utd transfer offer

Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez has admitted he is “very flattered” by transfer interest from Manchester United.

Reports suggested Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was interested in a move for the midfielder following his performances in the Champions League.

It was suggested United were planning a £71million move and would offer him a £150,000-per-week contract.

The Red Devils’ acquisition of Donny van de Beek has likely ended their pursuit but Saul told Marca he sees interest from top European clubs as a big “positive”.

He said: “I am very flattered that a club like Manchester United or other teams that ask about me take me into consideration, for me it is very positive.

“And that strong people in those clubs speak well of you means that I am doing things well at Atletico Madrid.”
