Reports had suggested the Gunners were either unable or unwilling to stump up the £45million, but they appear to have found the money from somewhere: the details of the deal are yet to be confirmed.

But The Athletic’s David Ornstein has confirmed Arsenal’s desire to get the deal over the line before the close of the window.

A deal for Partey will be a relief for Arteta, who will have been disappointed by his club’s inability to land other top target Houssem Aouar.
