And Your New WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions Are…

Last week it was confirmed that the “Charismatic Enigma” Jeff Hardy had suffered a serious injury, and would be out of action for 6-9 months following a full reconstruction of his knee. As a result, the legendary Hardy Boyz were forced to vacate the Smackdown Tag Team Championships.

Shane McMahon took to the ring this Tuesday night to announce a brand new set of champions, originally intending to just hand over the belts to Daniel Bryan and his super heavyweight bodyguard Rowan. However, after The Usos made a surprise appearance, evoking the brand new WIldcard Rule to jump ship from the Raw brand for the night, a match was booked between the two with the vacant belts on the line.

While The Usos put up a tremendous fight, nearly recapturing the titles that they helped to put on the map, Rowan proved to be too much of a force for either brother to deal with, delivering a brutal Iron Claw to score the win.

With this victory, both Daniel Bryan and Rowan become two-time WWE tag team champions, with Bryan previously winning gold alongside Kane as Team Hell No, and of course Rowan alongside Luke Harper as one half of The Bludgeon Brothers.
