Barbarians head coach Eddie Jones joked that Alun Wyn Jones wouldn’t be coming out of retirement to be a goal kicker after two missed shots at goal against the World XV.
The exhibition at Twickenham on Sunday lived up to its billing, with the two sides producing a thoroughly enjoyable game with 14 tries scored as the Baa-baas ran out 48-42 victors.
The former Wales captain fully embraced the occasion, producing some stunning offloads in the match, and looked to make a few breaks on the wing.
He assisted the Barbarians’ fourth try sending locking partner Stephan Lewies over for the score but was unable to get on the scoresheet himself.
The 37-year-old’s first shot at goal was in the 70th minute following Sam Johnson’s score.
Johnson had scored on the left-hand side of the pitch, setting up what would have been a fairly simple conversion for an international placekicker.
However, Jones showed that kicking is definitely not one of his strong points despite having a stacked skillset. He shanked the kick wide to the right.

0/2 from the tee
He got a second bite of the cherry after former All Blacks centre Seta Tamnivalu crashed over the whitewash from a tap and go five metres out.
In a similar position, Jones failed again after his teammates and the Twickenham crowd hyped him up with the Viking Thunder Clap.

Still a special send-off at Twickenham 👏

After the match, Jones was unwilling to confirm if he has retired from professional rugby, stating that he is just focusing on recovering in time to play for Swansea against the Barbarians.
Swansea takes on the Baa-baas for the first time in almost 30 years to mark the end of their 150th season.
Jones started his playing career at the club back in 2004.
