John Aldridge has told Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva to “worry about your own game” after he called Liverpool fans “pathetic” on social media.
City suffered Champions League quarter-final anguish for a third successive year as they went down 3-1 to unfancied Lyon in Lisbon on Saturday.
It was an unusually disjointed, overly-cautious and joyless performance from a City side that looked so impressive in defeating Real Madrid last week and had run up some other big wins since lockdown.

And following their loss, Silva thanked the City fans for their support, while he aimed a jibe at Liverpool supporters for making fun of the Citizens following their Champions League exit.
Silva wrote on Twitter: “The 2019/2020 season has ended for us in a very disappointing way. To all the fans, we’re sorry for this frustrating season.
“The only thing we can promise is that in 2020/2021 we’ll fight a lot to do much better and get back to winning important things for you guys!”

Silva added: “And to all Liverpool fans that have nothing else to do than to come to a Man City player account, I’m also sorry for you but for the wrong reasons… pathetic…go celebrate your titles, or try to find a partner, drink a beer with a friend, read a book…
“[S]o many options!”
To which Liverpool legend Aldridge responded: “Bernardo don’t fret about LFC fans, worry about your game, you’ve been poor this season! Enjoying my pint with my amigos, ynwa”.
