Abramovich could ‘gift’ Tuchel €40m starlet he ‘loves’

Roman Abramovich could ‘gift’ Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni to Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel this summer.

The 21-year-old joined Monaco from Bordeaux in January 2020 for £16million and has started 35 Ligue 1 games this season in defensive midfield.

He’s notched two goals and three assists in those games and that has – according to Jeanes Footeux (via Sport Witness) – ‘attracted’ Chelsea, who have him in their ‘sights’.

The report claims Tuchel ‘loves the profile of the player’ and would ‘integrate’ him into his first team plans next season if they’re able to lure him from Monaco.

That could be difficult though with Tchouameni providing ‘great happiness’ to manager Niko Kovac.

But the report goes on to say Chelsea will have to ‘spend no less than €40m’ to land the midfielder.

And with Abramovich aware of Tuchel’s admiration, the Russian owner could ‘gift’ Tchouameni to the Blues boss this summer.

It’s set to be another sumemr of transfers at Chelsea after the club spent £250million on new talent last summer.

Reports suggest they are in the ‘open race’ to sign Jadon Sancho and club director Marina Granovskaia has been tasked with signing two strikers this summer.

Timo Werner has struggled to score the goals expected of him having in a £48million deal last summer, though he does lead the way for Chelsea in terms of goal contributions, with 27 in all competitions this season.

Olivier Giroud is likely to leave this summer, while the club are also said to be willing to listen to offers for Tammy Abraham, who has barely featured since Tuchel took charge in January.

The German boss is said to be keen on a move for Robert Lewandowski and according to Sky Germany they have made contact with the Bayern Munich star over a summer move.

The Poland international has scored an incredible 47 goals this year, including 40 in 28 Bundesliga games.

It would be something of a surprise, given he’s 32, but the success of the move for 36-year-old Thiago Silva will have eased their concerns.

A move for Lewandowski would suggest the second striker would need to be someone willing to play second fiddle, with the former Dortmund ace unprepared to sit on the bench if he is to move to the Premier League.
