SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana wrestling team hosted the Augustana Duals on Saturday and Aero Amobreezed through the competition with each victory coming by the bonus point variety. Amo finished the day 4-0 with three pins and one major decision.
The Vikings won the first three duals of the meet, defeating Truman State, Northwestern (Iowa) and Morningside. Augustana dropped its last dual of the day to Nebraska-Kearney. The Vikings improved their dual record on the season to 5-2.
Colin Ayers (149), Jacob Anderson (149), Bailey Neises (157), Clayton Wahlstrom (197) and Ben Goodwin (197) each went 2-0 at the Augustana Duals. Neises won both of his matches by tech fall and Ayers won both of his matches by major decision. Anderson, Wahlstrom and Goodwin had one win by major decision apiece.
Augustana 31, Truman State 12
The Vikings kicked off the Augustana Duals by defeating Truman State 31-12. Aero Amo (184) and Lane Lettau (285) led the way for Augustana with each wrestler recording a pin. Three more Vikings earned bonus points with Tyler Nation (157) winning by tech fall and Colin Ayers (149) and Mitch Rechtzigel(165) won by major decision.
Deven Donais (141) kick started the Vikings with a victory by decision. Augustana went on the win the next three matches to gain an advantage. The Vikings would go on the close out the dual winning the last three matches and to take the dual.
Augustana 33, Northwestern (Iowa) 10
The Vikings moved to 2-0 on the day by defeating Northwestern 33-10. Leading Augustana was Aero Amo (184) who recorded his second pin of the day and Tyler Nation (165) who got his fist pin as a Viking.
Jacob Anderson (149) and Bailey Neises (157) also earned bonus victories for Augustana as Anderson earned a major decision and Neises notched a tech fall. Anderson started a string of six consecutive wins and put the Vikings in the lead for good.
Augustana 40, Morningside 3
Augustana’s most lopsided victory of the day came against Morningside with a 40-3 win. The Vikings recorded seven bonus point victories highlighted by pins by Aero Amo (184) and Michael Lowman (285).
Bailey Neises (157) earned his second tech fall on the day and Brandon Charbonneau (133) earned a tech fall in his lone match on the day. Colin Ayers (149), Mitch Rechzigel (165) and Clayton Wahlstrom(197) each won by major decision.
Nebraska-Kearney 27, Augustana 11
Augustana dropped its final dual of the Augustana Duals against Nebraska-Kearney, 27-11. Aero Amo(184) and Ben Goodwin (197) led the way for the Vikings with each one recording a major decision. The other Viking to record a win was Jacob Anderson (149) by a decision.

Next weekend the Vikings travel to Indianapolis, Ind. for the Midwest Classic on Dec. 17-18. The opponents and times for Augustana’s matches are TBA.
