WWE announced yesterday that Tye Dillinger has been released from his WWE contract. The news came during a day when several other members of the WWE roster were also let go from the company. In Dillinger’s case, he claims that he asked for his release earlier in the week. Several wrestlers and colleagues of “The Perfect 10” have commented on the departure and have wished him well. Naturally, one of the first wrestlers to comment on the news was Cody Rhodes. Dillinger and Rhodes have been close friends dating back to their time in the WWE developmental system years ago. However, now that Dillinger is gone from WWE, could the two of them soon start working together once again?
Cody Rhodes had more to say on Dillinger leaving WWE yesterday. During an interview with Pro Wrestling Sheet, he talked about his friendship with the now former WWE Superstar. Cody says that he is actually not eager to sign Dillinger to his All Elite Wrestling promotion but is instead more interested in simply seeing him thrive in any other promotion. According to Cody, just about any promotion in the world “would benefit from that dude.” Rhodes did not shoot down the possibility of signing Tye to AEW, so is it possible that he could be on his way into the new promotion very soon? Fans have noted that Tye Dillinger’s 90-day no-compete clause with WWE expires right before the AEW Double or Nothing event on May 25th.

There’s only one more pay-per-view left to go until it is time for WrestleMania 35, and that show is that Fastlane event next month. A couple of matches have already been announced for Fastlane, but only one bout can close out the show. According to the Wrestling Observer, the plan is for the WWE Championship match between Kofi Kingston and Daniel Bryan to headline the show. Kingston and Bryan blew fans away with their performances in the Elimination Chamber earlier this month, which led to WWE putting together a singles match between them for Fastlane. Hopefully these two will be able to deliver all over again. Expect to see the Fastlane PPV conclude with a match from the SmackDown roster.
