Chief admits Lyon will ‘analyse’ offers for ‘incredible’ City target

Lyon sporting director Juninho had admitted that the club will “analyse” offers for star midfielder Houssem Aouar, amid rumours of interest from Manchester City.

With David Silva set to leave the Etihad at the end of the season, Pep Guardiola may be looking to bolster his midfield.

Phil Foden has been touted as heir to club legend Silva, but Guardiola has previously admitted his admiration for 21-year-old Aouar.

The Frenchman was superb in both games against City in the Champions League group stages in the 2018/19 season, prompting Guardiola to admit: “Houssem Aouar is a very good player. He is incredible.

“We talk a lot about [Tanguy] Ndombele, but Aouar is also excellent. He’s always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality.”

City have consistently been linked with Aouar since, and Juninho has admitted that Lyon may struggle to hold on to him.

“Houssem was formed here, he has been here for a long time,” the Brazilian said, reports the Manchester Evening News.

“He brings us the technical touch required in midfield. But we know that the majority of youth academy talents here, who have Houssem’s talent, have left at one moment or another. It is the president who will decide. If we receive offers, we will analyse them. He is an important player.”
