A teenage girl was tied to tree and beaten up by villagers, including her own family members as a punishment for eloping with a boy belonging to a different caste. The incident was reported from Bihar’s Nawada area.
Reports say that the punishment was carried out on panchayat orders. The girl’s father, who was against her affair, supported the panchayat’s diktat.
