Toward the end of his life, Alexander McQueen tapped Lady Gaga as a muse. She premiered “Bad Romance” at his spring 2010 show, and since then, she hasn’t stopped wearing those sky-high Armadillo heels. So it makes sense that, for her latest public appearance, the pop star turned to a McQueen design, this time created by the brand’s current creative director, Sarah Burton.
Gaga surprised us when she arrived at the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards in the bondage-like, red-and-black dress that could pass for something straight out of her “Alejandro” music video. The look contained a red leather corset with harness detailing and a sheer skirt. Yeah, Mother Monster looks good and must have known that it was going to be a winning night.

While her film debut is set for October with the release of A Star Is Born, she took home the award for Best Music Documentary for Gaga: Five Foot Two, the Netflix film directed by Chris Moukarbel. She also took the stage to present the award for Best Movie, which went to Black Panther.
“Thank you. I love you little monsters so much and happy Pride month,” she said. As she walked out, she also joking about the title of her documentary. “I just have one problem. I recently found out I’m actually 5’3’¾. I’m so so sorry. But thank you so much.”

Hours before the show—which was actually filmed on Saturday—she teased fans with an Instagram story of her getting ready, plus a close-up look at the Alexander McQueen label. The high-fashion look isn’t too shocking considered she stepped out in over a dozen wild outfits in New York in May, rotating between red leather Giuseppe di Morabito dresses and massively oversize Gareth Pugh cheetah-print coats. McQueen would be thrilled.
