West Ham and Villa to compete for Guinean international’s signature

West Ham United and Aston Villa are rumoured to both be interested in BSC Young Boys defender Ali Camara.

The 23-year-old made 39 appearances in all competitions for the Swiss side and was influential in helping his side win the league title.

The Guinean’s performances have attracted interest from a number of clubs, with the Hammers and Villians apparently at the front of the queue for the 23-year-old’s signature, according to SportWitness.

Young Boys announced that Camara had signed a contract extension last month, keeping him at the club until 2024.

But interest from the Premier League could overlook his contract, and the club could sell him for the right price.

However, it is believed that interest from both clubs aforementioned is not concrete, and contact hasn’t been made for the 23-year-old.

He joined Young Boys from Israeli side Hapoel Ra’anana in 2018.

Dean Smith has been a busy man so far in the transfer window, bringing Emi Buendia to Villa Park, despite interest from Arsenal for the Argentine.

Elsewhere, Villa had a £25million bid for Arsenal starlet Emile Smith Rowe rejected and are interested in Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse.

The future of star man Jack Grealish is unclear, with the signing of Buendia and bid for Smith Rowe indicating that he could leave Villa.

Grealish will be concentrating on England, however, and he has said that he is ‘desperate’ to play against Scotland.

The attacking midfielder was left on the bench against Croatia as Raheem Sterling scored the winning goal at Wembley.

Speaking ahead of the clash against Steve Clarke’s men, Grealish told talkSPORT: “I’m so desperate to get on the pitch and prove to people just how good I am.

“These are the type of games that I thrive off.

“Not even just in this tournament, I’ve made a name for myself (in other big games) during my career. I’m desperate to be involved.

“But the main thing is the team get the three points and carry on our good start.”

Pundit Jermaine Jenas believes Grealish should feature on Friday.

The former Spurs man said: “It’s a long tournament and I’d bring Grealish in, 100 per cent.”
