Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has suggested that Trent Alexander-Arnold would be an “unbelievable captain” if he was chosen to replace Jordan Henderson.
Alexander-Arnold has spent his whole career at Liverpool and he made his senior debut for them in 2016.
He shone for the Reds right away as he quickly replaced Nathaniel Clyne as their first-choice right-back.

Since then, he has played 179 times for Liverpool across all competitions. In this time, he has helped them win the Premier League and Champions League.
Alexander-Arnold has been capped 13 times by England since making his debut in 2018. He was set to play at this summer’s European Championships, but a thigh injury has ruled him out of the tournament.
Enrique has told the Liverpool Echo that Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones are both good candidates to replace Henderson as captain of the Reds:
“Trent is still really young and if I was him I would really follow Jordan Henderson to be the next Liverpool captain.
“Trent can definitely be the next captain of Liverpool, but also Curtis Jones can be too.
“Because you can see how quickly football can change and maybe this coming season we will see Curtis Jones starting to play a lot.
“And I can see for the personality, obviously Trent can be an unbelievable captain for the club, I really believe that, he is still young and has a lot to grow.
“But I already love the personality of Curtis.
“He is a midfielder and will be already related to the history of the captains at the club. I can see him more of a leadership role for him.
“It is true that Trent can become that too because Hendo wasn’t a leader when he first arrived at Liverpool and look at what he has become.
“So Trent can be a leader for Liverpool because he loves the club, he is from the city and hopefully he can stay there until he retires, because when he is at his peak, he is the best right-back in the world.
“He is unbelievable at some of the things he can do with the ball.”
