Jota injury leaves Liverpool with nervous wait over severity

Diogo Jota is out of Liverpool’s clash with Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday after picking up a knee injury midweek, with Jurgen Klopp facing a nervous wait to find out the severity of the problem.

The German boss revealed “niggles” for Kostas Tsimikas and Jota in his Friday press conference.

“We had some niggles I would say, but we have to see. The diagnosis is not finally done,” said Klopp.

“Kostas, we have to see. Diogo got a knock as well – that is it from the game I think.”

And Paul Joyce of The Times has now tweeted, explaining that Liverpool are waiting for the Portugal international’s problem to “settle down” before they can make a true assessment of the severity.

Liverpool have already suffered a number of injury blows this season as they bid to defend their title.

Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are set to miss the rest of the season, while Thiago, has also had issues which have limited his game time.

The Reds will now be keeping their fingers crossed that medical tests for Jota come back with positive news.
