BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — MSU-Moorhead junior Angel Vega went 0-2 and was eliminated during the opening day of competition at the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships, which began Friday in Birmingham, Ala.
Vega faced a tough draw in the opening round as the No. 14 seed at 141 pounds. He opened with Maurice MIller of Notre Dame College, who entered as the No. 3 seed with a 27-4 record.

Miller recorded a 12-3 win over Vega in the opening round, sending the Dragon junior to the consolation bracket. In his consolation match, Vega faced No. 11 seed Dave Cawley of the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown and suffered an 8-0 defeat to see his competition end.
Vega finished the year with a 25-15 mark. He led the Dragons in wins during his first year in the program.
