Mysterio off NJPW Event, Ciampa/Gargano, Owens Changes Twitter

Rey Mysterio is a hot commodity in the wrestling industry at the moment as the masked superstar has a ton of independent bookings lined up for himself, and he also was recently named as a co-owner of Aro Lucha, and WWE is even still working on signing him to a deal. Unfortunately, it now looks like Mysterio will no longer be part of the New Japan Pro Wrestling Strong Style Evolved event in Long Beach, California on March 25th. Mysterio had been set to face Jushin “Thunder” Liger at the event, but NJPW’s Cup post-tournament press conference excluded him from the lineup, confirming that the former WWE Champion’s recent bicep injury has now forced him to miss the show this weekend.
One of the biggest feuds in NXT at the moment has got to be the one brewing between former NXT Tag Team Champions Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. The two were best friends in NXT as part of the #DIY tag team, but Ciampa turned on his partner last year and later even cost Gargano his NXT career. Because of this some fans have been worried that the two will not get the chance to face each other at the upcoming NXT Takeover: New Orleans event. However, the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer has now confirmed that Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa will indeed be taking place at the event on April 7th. The match still has yet to be announced for the show on NXT programming.
As seen on last night’s Smackdown show, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were fired by General Manager Daniel Bryan. Their previously announced singles match against each other has been removed from the WrestleMania lineup by WWE and the company has also removed both of their profiles from WWE.com. Owens has now taken it one step further by chanting his Twitter handle. He has removed all mentions of him being a WWE Superstar and is now back to using his real name Kevin Steen, which also led to him no longer being verified on the website. As of right now, Owens’ best friend Sami Zayn is still verified on Twitter and listed as being a WWE Superstar.
