According to Deadline.com, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions will be producing a six episode docu-series titled “Finding Justice”, and below is the show description:
“Finding Justice tells the powerful stories of heroes, leaders, advocates and change agents in African American communities across America as they uncover injustices and fight to bring healing and change. Combining the grit and edge of investigative journalism and the profound heart of a powerful documentary, Finding Justice, from executive producers Johnson, Garcia and David Leepson, takes a look at the faces of change in Black America.”
Additionally, The Rock issued the following comment to Deadline on the new project:
“Seven Bucks Productions was built on the foundation of bringing diverse and influential stories to the masses,” said Johnson. “Which is why we’re excited to partner with BET to bring these powerful stories of injustice from the African-American community to light. More importantly, with this series, we’re pushing to create a platform that will enable healing, and inspire change on a global scale.”
In related news, The Rock recently spoke with The Wrap to discuss his less-than-5 year old production company, which Rock helms alongside his ex-wife Dany Garcia and her brother Hiram Garcia. On the vision for the company, which as of now has produced over 50 movies and TV shows, Rock had the following to say:
“With every project, we are looking to push the envelope just a little bit more,” Johnson said. “It doesn’t necessarily have to be bigger, but it has to be different, and if you can make it better, we always want to do that.”
The article details success the company has with reboots of dormant titles such as “Jumanji” and “Rampage”, but also points out the box office and critical failure of “Baywatch.”
“We went into ‘Baywatch’ with the best of intentions, and there were some challenges with ‘Baywatch’ that we thought we could overcome in terms of the existing baggage, and ultimately, when we delivered it, it didn’t hit the mark,” Johnson said.
“We had all the right elements to make something so special,” he said. “There were a lot of good learning lessons, and you hope not to learn these critical lessons as you’re swimming and as you’re releasing the film — you hope to learn them earlier, but you learn and you grow nonetheless, and it was a fine a– kicking.”
He added, “I would take another crack at ‘Baywatch’ if we could do it again.”
