Man Utd executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is set to ‘reward’ Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a new contract, according to reports.

The Red Devils have had a mixed season, coming second in the Premier League and losing in the final of the Europa League, but despite not winning any silverware they improved their league position.

The Europa League final against Villarreal was seen as the moment when Solskjaer would start to move towards becoming an elite level manager but his side fail to impress on the big stage in Gdansk.

Having won the competition in 2017 under Jose Mourinho, the Red Devils were favourites to claim their first silverware since then when taking on the La Liga side on Wednesday.

But Solskjaer’s men never got going against the European final debutants, who went into half-time ahead after Gerard Moreno turned home a free-kick as United’s soft underbelly from set-pieces was exposed once again.

Edinson Cavani levelled during a bright start to the second half, but that soon petered out and the match ended 1-1 after extra time with David De Gea’s saved spot-kick seeing Villarreal triumph 11-10.

Despite that, the Daily Telegraph claims that Man Utd are to ‘reward’ Solskjaer with a new contract with Woodward set to ‘spearhead United’s summer transfer plans ahead of his exit in December’.

Solskjaer will be ‘backed with a new contract and summer signings in the transfer market’ after the current season was ‘seen by the club’s board as progress’.

With only a year left on his current contract at Man Utd, the Norwegian ‘will open talks over a three-year extension’ at the Premier League club.

On transfers, the Daily Telegraph confirm Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho as a ‘primary target’ while they add that Solskjaer ‘would also like a striker, young central midfielder and a defender’.

Aston Villa captain is said to be ‘admired’ by Man Utd, while wantaway Spurs striker Harry Kane and Southampton poacher Danny Ings are ‘among the other players United have looked at’.

The report adds: ‘United would like to bring in a young central midfielder in the mould of Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga, but it would be a player for the future rather than to make an immediate impact.’

 

Former Manchester United footballer Ryan Giggs will face trial next year accused of deliberately headbutting his ex-girlfriend and controlling her throughout their relationship.

In a 15-minute hearing at Manchester Crown Court on Friday the date was fixed for proceedings to take place at the same court on January 24.

It is alleged that Giggs, 47, assaulted Kate Greville, 36, and caused her actual bodily harm at his home in Worsley, Greater Manchester, on November 1 last year.

The Wales boss is also said to have engaged in controlling and coercive behaviour towards her between December 2017 and November 2020, namely that he used violence, isolation, belittling, humiliation, harassment, degradation and abuse.

Giggs is also charged with the common assault by beating of Ms Greville’s youngster sister, Emma Greville, in the same alleged incident on November 1.

In the hearing before Judge Nicholas Dean QC, the Honorary Recorder of Manchester, Giggs was not asked to enter his formal pleas but has denied all the allegations and previously issued a statement in which he said he would “look forward to clearing my name”.

A plea and trial preparation hearing was fixed for July 23 ahead of the trial which is estimated to last up to three weeks.

The court heard the prosecution had raised the issue of jury selection but Judge Dean said he tended to agree with Giggs’s defence counsel Lisa Roberts QC that “in effect we need to trust jurors that this case is nothing to do with football or allegiance to a public team”.

He added it would be a matter for the trial judge.

Referring to the trial date, Judge Dean said: “It’s obviously regrettable that it is so far in the future but it is the best we can do in all the circumstances.”

Giggs, wearing a blue suit and tie, spoke only to confirm his name shortly after he entered the dock in Court 6.

He remains on conditional bail and must not contact Kate or Emma Greville, or go to any address where they are.

Avez-vous revu Julien après l’aventure ?

On ne s’est pas revu. On s’est juste écrit et appelé. Après l’émission, on a continué à se parler. Julien m’avait proposé de venir chez lui en Bretagne, mais je n’avais pas pu et je n’avais pas forcément le temps. Après, on a continué à parler sans forcément se revoir, puis on a chacun repris nos vies. A l’extérieur, je ne pense pas que ça aurait fonctionné et que c’était plutôt une amourette de vacances. Il n’a peut-être pas forcément assez de caractère pour moi.

Aviez-vous des sentiments ?

On s’est très vite attaché, mais on avait pas de sentiments amoureux.

Jusqu’où êtes-vous allé avec lui dans l’aventure ?

Il n’y a rien eu de plus que le bisou.

Qu’avez-vous à répondre à Marie qui dit que vous êtes légère ?

Je ne la connaissais pas du tout avant le tournage, donc à part critiquer leur différence d’âge, je n’ai jamais rien dit. Aujourd’hui, je vois ce qu’elle dit de moi dans l’émission. Je peux comprendre parce que je me suis rapprochée de son copain. Mais ce qu’elle dit à l’extérieur, sorti du contexte, je ne comprends pas. Quand elle voit des photos que je fais et qu’elle se permet de venir sur mon mur Instagram pour faire des captures d’écran, puis dire : ‘Voilà elle pose en lingerie, ça définit bien la fille légère qu’elle est’, je trouve ça très petit. Pour moi une femme légère, c’est une femme de 40 ans qui a trois enfants et qui fait de la télé-réalité. A chacun sa définition.

Que pensez-vous du montage de l’émission ?

Le regret qu’on a, c’est qu’on faisait beaucoup de soirées où on rigolait et j’ai trouvé que ces petites images manquaient un peu.

Je me suis énervée contre Yumee en off

Comment était l’ambiance avec les autres tentatrices ?

Je m’entendais surtout avec Anissa et Andréa. J’ai eu une petite engueulade avec Yumee. On avait déjà fait deux date avec Julien du coup, on s’est dit qu’on allait un peu freiner les choses et qu’il devait partir avec une autre fille. Il est donc parti avec Yumee et en revenant du date, elle m’a fait croire que Julien et elle s’étaient embrassés en off. Les journalistes ont juré que ce n’était pas le cas. Je me suis énervée contre Yumee en off du coup et elle a pleuré. A la base, elle était sur Julien, donc est-ce qu’elle a dit ça pour que je m’engueule avec lui ? Je ne sais pas. Ensuite, elle s’est rapprochée de Jonathan.

Était-elle sincère avec Jonathan, car on n’a pas compris pourquoi elle s’est rapproché de lui du jour au lendemain ?

En fait, un jour Julien a mis de la crème sur le dos de Marine, ce qui a énervé Jonathan. Il lui a un peu fait une scène de jalousie et à partir de ce moment-là, Jon s’est éloigné d’elle. Au final, Jon et Yumee se sont rapprochés. On a vu Yumee très touché quand Jon lui rappelait qu’il avait une copine, mais je pense que c’était plus parce que son ego était touché. Dans la vie de tous les jours, elle n’a pas l’habitude de se faire recaler je pense. Donc plus il lui disait non, plus elle attaquait.

Êtes-vous en couple aujourd’hui ?

Je suis célibataire.

Vous avez évoqué vos opérations de chirurgie esthétique (poitrine et lèvres). Qu’est-ce qui vous a poussé à vous lancer ?

J’ai refait ma poitrine à l’âge de 19 ans car elle était vraiment petite. Quand on voit des filles en maillot de bain ou avec un beau décolleté, ça donne envie. C’était un complexe. J’ai aussi touché à la bouche, je n’avais pas forcément de raison. Je trouvais ça plus joli d’avoir une bouche plus pulpeuse.

Envisagez-vous d’en faire une autre ?

A voir plus tard mais pour le moment, non.

Le 15 juin est une date chargée d’émotion pour Laeticia Hallyday et ses deux filles Jade (14 ans) et Joy (10 ans), elle représente l’anniversaire de Johnny Hallyday. Le Taulier, décédé le 5 décembre 2017 d’un cancer du poumon qui s’est généralisé, aurait eu 76 ans. Mais pour la deuxième fois depuis sa mort, ses trois femmes le célèbrent sans lui.

Dans la matinée de ce samedi 15 juin 2019, la tête remplie de jolis souvenirs, Jade Hallyday a choisi de rendre un poignant hommage à son papa. “P=papa, A=amour, P=pour toujours, A=avec toi“, débute l’adolescente. Jade Hallyday poursuit ensuite en écrivant ces mots au présent : “Papa, joyeux anniversaire. Tu es le meilleur, le plus gentil, le plus drôle et le plus légendaire tu nous manques terriblement fort. Sache qu’on sera toujours là pour te protéger et veiller sur toi.”

Puis la fille de Laeticia et Johnny Hallyday bascule inéluctablement dans le passé : “Pour nous, tu étais une légende, une idole mais encore mieux un papa. Tu nous a aidés jusqu’au bout merci d’avoir était là pour nous, je te souhaite un joli anniversaire même si on ne peut pas te voir ou t’entendre, je sais que personne pourra nous séparer.” Elle conclut ces mots déchirants en apposant sobrement le nom de sa maman “Laeticia“, celui de sa petite soeur “Joy”, puis enfin le sien.

Pour illustrer ce message, Jade Hallyday est replongée dans les archives familiales, à des moments clé de son histoire, notamment lors de son adoption au Vietnam en 2004.

Ce week-end, Tina Kunakey (22 ans) a répondu à un fan sur Instagram qui lui demandait ce qu’elle préférait chez Vincent Cassel (52 ans), son époux depuis leur mariage le 24 août 2018 à Bidart. Le jeune mannequin de 22 ans a tout simplement répondu : “Ses filles.” Un joli message envoyé aux aînées de l’acteur dont la maman est Monica Bellucci.

Au cours de son mariage avec Monica Bellucci, qui vit aujourd’hui une belle histoire avec l’artiste Nicolas Lefebvre, Vincent Cassel est devenu père de ses deux premières filles : la sublime Deva (14 ans), qui a été choisie pour être l’un des nouveaux visages de Dolce & Gabbana, une maison de couture italienne dont Monica est une ambassadrice de longue date, ainsi que Léonie, 9 ans. Et tout dernièrement, Tina et Vincent Cassel ont accueilli leur première fille ensemble : la petite Amazonie, née le 19 avril 2019.

Dimanche, jour de la fête des Pères, Tina Kunakey l’a souhaitée à Vincent Cassel, mais aussi et surtout à son propre père, Robin Kunakey, dont elle est particulièrement proche. En story de son compte Instagram, la jeune maman a posté plusieurs photos d’archives en compagnie de son père. Des photos de son enfance, de vacances, mais aussi de son mariage avec Vincent Cassel lors duquel elle portait une divine robe signée Vera Wang pour la cérémonie civile avant de choisir le jeune créateur français Jacquemus pour la soirée. C’était il y a moins d’un an, sans doute l’un des plus beaux jours de sa vie après la naissance de son premier enfant.

La 9e édition du Marrakech du Rire a été une nouvelle réussite ! Cette année encore, de nombreuses personnalités se sont rendues au Maroc, sur invitation du festival et de son créateur Jamel Debbouze. Black M avait fait le voyage accompagné de son épouse, la sublime Léa.

Samedi 15 juin 2019, Black M (de son vrai nom Alpha Diallo) et son épouse Léa ont assisté à la soirée de clôture du 9e Marrakech du Rire. L’événement a eu lieu au Palais Bahia, un ancien palais du XIXe siècle devenu musée, monument majeur du patrimoine culturel marocain et chef-d’oeuvre de l’architecture orientale.

Après le dîner de prestige organisé par Christian Dior en avril 2019, le Palais Bahia a accueilli un événement culturel international majeur. Le rappeur Black M et son épouse ont ainsi pu le découvrir, comme Jessica Alba, Lupita Nyong’o et les invités stars du défilé croisière 2020 de la maison de Haute Couture parisienne.

Pour ce court voyage au Maroc, Black M et Léa n’ont pas emmené leur petit garçon. Le couple a fait son retour à Paris ce lundi 17 juin dans la matinée.

Ainsi, le rappeur de 34 ans et membre de la Sexion d’Assaut reprendra la promotion de Mon Beau frère, son nouveau single extrait de son album à paraître, baptisé Il était une fois….

Dans quelques jours, notre ex-Miss France 2006 Alexandra Rosenfeld (32 ans) sera sur TF1 dans la nouvelle édition de Je suis une célébrité, sortez moi de là animée par Laurence Boccolini et Christophe Dechavanne. Comme elle s’attend à recevoir des remarques déplacées sur son physique à cette occasion, la petite amie du journaliste Hugo Clément – nouvelle recrue de France 2 – qui est récemment devenue brune a décidé de prendre les devants.

Sur son compte Instagram, la maman d’Ava (8 ans) a donc enregistré et publié un petit message à l’attention de ses abonnés les plus pénibles. “Salut, je fais beaucoup de stories, mais les gens qui me suivent le savent, je ne me filme jamais pour parler, je déteste ça. Mais là il faut vraiment que je vous dise un truc. En général les gens sont toujours très corrects avec moi. Mais en prévention, là, des deux, trois relous qui vont débarquer : l’émission Je suis une célébrité, sortez-moi de là arrive. Donc oui je vous informe que je vais être maigre parce que déjà que je suis fine en mangeant, imaginez là-bas. Donc je vais être maigre, laide, mal coiffée et tout ce que vous voulez. Mais ce n’est pas Miss France, d’accord  ? Donc on est là-bas pour gagner des sous pour une asso, c’est une émission d’aventure, donc on s’en fout, les gars. Donc tous vos trucs sur le physique, gardez-les, voilà, gros bisous !”, a-t-elle lancé avec le sourire.

But the left-back has opted for a fresh start in Germany and has agreed a deal that runs until 2025 with Bayern, who have handed their incoming recruit the number three shirt previously worn by Xabi Alonso.

“My move to FC Bayern is a great honour for me, a dream come true,” said Richards, who made his only appearance for England Under-21s as a substitute in October 2019 in a 2-2 draw in Slovenia.

“I’m proud to be wearing the shirt of one of the world’s biggest clubs. I hope I can help the team continue to be successful in the future.

“My thanks to the management at FC Bayern for their trust. Our conversations were very convincing. I can’t wait to be on the pitch for Bayern.”

Reading say they offered Richards a new contract but he ultimately decided to head to the six-time European Cup champions when his existing deal expires next month.

Bayern’s board member for sport Hasan Salihamidzic said: “We’re delighted Omar is coming to FC Bayern.

“Omar is a technically gifted player on the left side of defence. He finds good solutions going forward, he’s very alert and we trust him to play a good role in our team.”

 

Had David De Gea followed his penalty notes on Wednesday, Manchester United would have won the Europa League.

Gerard Moreno opened the scoring for Villarreal in the first half before Edinson Cavani equalised for United after the break.

But neither side could find a breakthrough in normal or extra time, with the Spanish side winning 11-10 on penalties.

David De Gea’s inclusion was one of the talking points ahead of the game with Dean Henderson preferred for a big chunk of the season.

And now, a picture has emerged of the notes the Spanish goalkeeper was given ahead of the shootout detailing which way to dive for some of the Villarreal players’ penalties.

Sky Sports journalist Angelo Mangiante tweeted the photo.

Moreno stepped up first, but De Gea had no instructions on the striker.

He then followed the instructions exactly for the next three penalty takers, though each player scored.

De Gea may have saved Dani Parejo’s effort had he not dived too late – the instructions were accurate.

With the shootout then in sudden death, De Gea would have saved Moi Gomez’s penalty had he relied on the notes, which told him to stay central.

But he chose to ignore them and dived to his left.

Had he stayed in the middle, United would (may) have won the Europa League, with Fred then scoring the first penalty of sudden death.

De Gea was criticised by Paul Scholes as he “didn’t look like saving a penalty” before seeing his own effort saved to hand victory to Villarreal.

Scholes said: “Once you get to penalties anything can happen, we know that.

“I always feel a little bit worried being an Englishman that we’d be on the wrong side of it.

“But the penalties, you have to say… David… we spoke about his record before it, he didn’t look like saving a penalty. They [United] got a little bit lucky with Luke Shaw’s penalty as well.”

Edinson Cavani equalised in the second half for United after Gerard Moreno opened the scoring for the Spaniards, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side failed to find a winner in normal or extra time.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper has been in and out of the team with Dean Henderson often preferred, but Scholes claimed before the final that De Gea remains United’s No.1.

On his inclusion ahead of Henderson, Scholes told BT Sport: “I think it’s the right call to go with the experience. I thought De Gea was left out of the team at the right time, I thought it was the time to give Henderson a chance. Has he taken that chance? I’m not sure he has.

“In the first couple of games, he looked nice and safe, nice and controlled, since then he’s looked a little bit shaky to me. David coming back in the team, I think he’s been excellent, you think of the Roma game away, he could have easily conceded five or six goals, but he was brilliant on the night.

“I’m glad he’s playing, he’s still, I don’t know what Ole thinks, but I still think he’s the number one.”

But De Gea has not saved a penalty for United for over five years and again looked unconvincing in the shootout.

Scholes picked out his poor penalty record as a factor before the game and admitted he “didn’t look like saving” one.
