Red Bull team boss Christian Horner was laudatory of Sergio Perez’s progress after last weekend’s Portuguese GP, noting that the Mexican’s performance is slowly but surely “coming together”.

Perez’s debut with Red Bull in Bahrain was marked by a charge from the back of the field, after a formation lap power failure, that put him among the top five at the checkered flag. But at Imola, where he qualified P2, a costly spin crushed his chances of a points finish.

At Portimão, from P4 on the grid, Perez lost a spot to Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz at the start and then fought with McLaren’s Lando Norris before he stabilized his position in fourth where he concluded his afternoon.

Although the Mexican wasn’t all that happy with his result, he insisted the mileage had been another good boost to his experience.

“It was positive to get those kilometres on my own, feeling the car, because the way I have to drive this car in a long run and looking after the tyres is very different to what I’m used to,” Perez explained.

“In that regard, it is a positive day. Hopefully we can be back to top form and really be in the mix with the leaders, it’s where we should be.

“Hopefully we can back to that level, but it is important every weekend to make progress.”

And Horner believes his new driver is indeed improving with each outing onboard Red Bull’s RB16B.

“He’s getting there,” he said. “[Portimao’s] been really difficult because of the wind, but you can see the race is coming together for him when he’s in clean air.

“He managed to get past Norris – who passed him fully off the track, again another track limits inconsistency – and yeah, once he was in clean air, he was doing the same lap times as the leaders and at some points was setting the fastest laps.

“It’s really coming together with him. I’m happy with the progress he is making, and with more time and experience everything just comes together for him.”

Ahead of the start of the season, Perez reckoned that he would need “five proper races” to understand and get comfortable with his new mount. His adaptation period is therefore still ongoing.

“I’m in a state of adaptation I’d say,” he said. “I don’t know the car in race conditions so I’m not able to give too much information just yet on things we should be trying.

“I’m in that process of adaptation, understanding with the team, understanding the car, before I can really take the team into different directions.

“The team is pretty solid, they’ve done an incredible job in these first races, so it’s me that I need to get on top of the car first and that’s coming.”

Aston Villa are hoping to sign former loanee Axel Tuanzebe from Manchester United, according to reports.

The centre-back had two loan spells at Villa Park between January 2018 and May 2019.

He made 30 appearances for the West Midlands outfit during their promotion campaign two seasons ago.

It now looks like Villa boss Dean Smith is hoping for a reunion with Tuanzebe.

According to Football Insider, they’re aiming to sign the 23-year-old in the summer transfer window.

Club chiefs are confident that a £7million bid would tempt United into selling, especially if Tuanzebe pushes for a move.

They’ve put the defender at the top of their wish list as he fits their ‘profile’.

The report states that Villa want a new centre-back with Premier League experience who also has the potential to improve.

Tuanzebe is yet to reach his best form due to his lack of opportunities at Old Trafford. He could thrive if given regular game time under Smith.

It’s thought that he would compete with current centre-backs Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa for a place in the starting eleven.

Tuanzebe may be encouraged to move by Villa’s defensive situation. They’ve placed their trust in Konsa this season and he’s repaid their faith with some brilliant performances, putting him in the mix for an England call-up.

Tuanzebe would also get to play alongside keeper Emi Martinez. The Argentinian has been brilliant since joining from Arsenal and is viewed as one of the top shot-stoppers in the league.

Villa coach John Terry could help the player to become a more complete centre-half too.

A transfer is made more likely by Tuanzebe’s contract situation. His deal expires in June 2022 and United have the option to extend that by a further year.

But with Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly already available to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Tuanzebe has no real route to the first team.

As a result, he is yet to start in the Premier League this term. His season has been defined by late substitute appearances once the result is pretty much determined.

If Villa launch a bid for the player, it’s hard to see why he would reject them in favour of staying at United.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has spent the week working to improve his players’ confidence in front of goal as they head into a must-win fixture against arch-rivals Manchester United.

The Reds have scored just twice from 36 chances created in their last two matches, which have been defined by late equalisers costing them four points and putting their Champions League qualification hopes in jeopardy.

It took a couple of days for Klopp’s anger to subside after conceding with virtually the last kick of the game against Newcastle, but he quickly switched into analysis mode as he sought to show the players where they could improve.

The German has yet to win at Old Trafford – Liverpool’s last victory there was in March 2014 – but knows victory on Sunday is vital if they are to maintain their outside hopes of a top-four finish.

But they will only succeed if they cure their wastefulness in front of goal and to that end Klopp has been providing them with plenty of analysis in an attempt to rectify a problem which has dogged them for most of the season, particularly at home.

“Last week (against Leeds and Newcastle) we had 36 chances and scored twice, that is obviously not a number you want,” he said.

“There are two things: we don’t score often enough but we create a decent number and that’s what we have to keep doing.

“We tried to help the boys, we showed them situations like this. Not shouting at them ‘How can you not score in this situation?’, just giving them different options in the moment, helping them with the right information.

“After the (Newcastle) game I was not in a good mood – no-one should have been. The next day it was slightly better but not much.

“Two days later I was completely fine and I watched five or six games of us in two days to try to understand things better.

“You just have to bring yourself again in these decisive situations and when you are there you try to make the right decision and that is what we are working on with a lot of things in training and talks as well, some video sessions.

“It was a busy week but no problem as I have nothing else to do, so we try to use the time.”

United head into the game on the back of a 6-2 Europa League semi-final first leg demolition of Roma and Klopp acknowledges that does not bode well for his side.

“Is it the best place to go after conceding a late goal against Newcastle? I don’t know,” he added.

“Is it the best place to go after watching them score five goals in one half last night? I don’t know.

“We will see, for sure it is a game when you are a Liverpool player or a manager it is the game where you have to give everything anyway.

“They looked pretty good (against Roma) and we are ready for that. I have no worries, to be honest.

“We trained intensely, we tried to stimulate intensity which means we will have the right legs to go in and then we will see what we make of it.”

Klopp has set his side the target of winning their remaining five matches, but even that may not be sufficient to get them where they want to be.

“No, five wins will not be enough, for sure not, it depends on how the other teams play obviously. But without five wins we don’t have a chance,” he said.

“So as long as we are not 15 points behind with only three or four games to go, why should we write it off?

“We think we can still go to the Champions League but we will need results in other games (to go for us). We know that.

“But without winning our own games we will go nowhere, so we are not that naive.”

The agent of Paul Pogba has raised the possibility of Man Utd swapping the Frenchman for Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard as ‘an example’.

Mino Raiola has long tried to prise Pogba out of United but has so far failed, despite his obvious desire to join his hero Zinedine Zidane in Madrid.

Raiola was asked about Pogba by Spanish publication AS and he said: “With Pogba, the important thing now is to know what United wants, what project is proposing to Pogba. 

“Pogba is interested in one thing, winning the Champions League and winning titles, and we are going to see where this is possible, if at United or at other clubs.”

When asked why Pogba was not already in Madrid, Raiola said: “It is a question to ask Madrid. At one time Pogba felt a lot of love and trust from United, and there were several other clubs… Later, it is very difficult for United and Madrid to understand each other for a great transfer, because strong clubs do not want to sell strong players to other strong clubs. 

“And I’m not going to fool him, for Pogba playing for Madrid was always a very attractive thing for Zidane too. He is his idol as a young man.

“I think that nothing is impossible, but football depends on the day. As it is. And you have to be flexible to think of all the possibilities. And if tomorrow Madrid wants to make a Hazard-Pogba change? It is just an example. And if all four parties like it, why not?”

The Manchester Evening News claimed this week that Paul Pogba is relaxed about his future and prepared to stay with Manchester United for at least another year if a summer transfer fails to materialise.

It is thought that United would only sell the Frenchman if they had an offer of around £80m. It’s unlikely that the offer of Hazard would sway them towards selling.

Thomas Tuchel will not be getting “angry” with Chelsea’s hierarchy should the club fail to land Erling Haaland in the summer.

And should they also miss out on other reported striker targets Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku, he will still remain calm.

For Tuchel accepts there are other key factors that come into play when it comes to signing players, not just his own demands.

Chelsea are understood to be prioritising a new striker in the summer with Timo Werner yet to convince in the role and Tammy Abrahams out of favour.

However, Tuchel admits he will be understanding if his first-choice targets do not arrive in the upcoming window.

“I have opinions about what we can add to the group to get better,” said Tuchel.

“This is my job and I will give my opinion and I am asked my opinion and we will do this and sometimes opinions change.

“This is also a process and I have my ideas of course. I have ideas of certain profiles. This is not about me wishing for this player A and B and if they don’t come I will get angry. This was never like this in my whole career. This will not be like this.

“I totally understand there are issues to solve with the agents, the player, the interests of a club. It is not only about me and my wishes.

“I talk with the club and give my opinion and we share this with the scouting and of course I’m involved and I should be involved and I have absolutely the feeling that I am involved.”

After taking over from Frank Lampard at the end of January, Tuchel has guided the Blues into the top four in the Premier League and put them on the verge of the Champions League final later this month.

And he insists the current squad deserve the chance to prove they are good enough before he rushes out to sign replacements.

“The players that we have are fantastic players with big personalities. Right now is even the moment where we get to know each other better and better and we have big games coming and coming and crucial times ahead of us.

“We will have a very clear picture of our group at least and the stronger they perform the harder it is to improve the squad from outside. But there is always room and there are always ideas and we will find out.

“I have the strong feeling we are not in a rush and we are not in a big need and very relaxed. Right now everybody is fully focused and it is not the moment to get distracted with any other subjects.”

Ce qui interpelle également les fans de la star, c’est l’absence de Nabilla et de Thomas Vergara des réseaux sociaux. Le couple, qui commente plusieurs fois par jour ses faits et gestes, est depuis mystérieusement silencieux. Si ce comportement particulier étonne et convainc les plus sceptiques que Nabilla a accouché, beaucoup écrivent sur Twitter que ce silence serait en réalité dû à un accord passé entre un magazine et Nabilla.

C’est à Paris Match qu’elle avait confirmé sa grossesse et le sexe du bébé. Pour ces internautes, il est certain que Nabilla ne révélera pas la naissance de son enfant ailleurs que dans les pages de la célèbre parution qui sort tous les jeudis. Une théorie qui pourra donc être vérifiée dans quelques jours, à moins que l’annonce ne soit faite avant sur le site internet du célèbre journal ! Suspense…

“Notre adorable petit garçon, Charlie Wolf Tell, est arrivé !” À l’image, les internautes ont ainsi pu découvrir un nouveau portrait de famille à quatre dessiné à l’aquarelle. Selon les informations de People, le petit Charlie mesure 50,8 cm et pèse près de 4 kilos. La star révélée dans Laguna Beach : The Hills, sur MTV, est déjà maman d’un garçon prénommé Liam James, aujourd’hui âgé de 2 ans. Le 13 septembre dernier, elle a célébré ses 5 ans de mariage avec le musicien William Tell.

Invité de RTL Matin vendredi 11 octobre 2019, Gad Elmaleh est revenu sur les accusations de plagiat dont il fait l’objet depuis janvier dernier. L’humoriste a souhaité faire de ce petit coup dur une force, en se servant de l’affaire pour son nouveau spectacle, prévu pour octobre 2020. “Vous dites que ça sera 100 % Gad. Mais est-ce que ça veut dire que ça sera 0% plagiat ?“, questionne Alba Ventura.

“Je n’ai même pas envie de dire ça, car ça voudrait dire quoi ? Que “avant il faisait du plagiat?” Non. Je reviens sur ce que j’ai déjà dit dans Le Parisien. On a pris le temps de pouvoir parler et comprendre ce qui était mes inspirations. Oui, en regardant ces comiques américains nuit et jour, quand le stand up est arrivé, je m’en suis inspiré, plus qu’inspiré. Il y a des choses que j’ai prise d’eux“, a reconnu une nouvelle fois Gad Elmaleh.

“Tourner cette situation en dérision”

Gad Elmaleh ne laissera cependant pas ces accusations de plagiat occulter le reste de son travail, qui a tout de même fait sa renommée. “Toute ma vie ça a été 100% moi et il y a plein d’inspirations dont je ne parle jamais qui sont tellement plus présente de la minute trente de vannes américaines. On a parlé de Raymond Devos, de Claude Nougaro… tout ça se sont des inspirations. On peut parler des peintres ou des chorégraphes qui m’ont inspiré“, conclut le comique.

Pour rappel, la chaîne YouTube CopyComic avait relevé plusieurs passages de différents spectacles de Gad Elmaleh, reprenant parfois mot pour mot des blagues d’humoristes américains comme Martin Matte, Dana Carvey, Jerry Seinfeld mais aussi français comme Coluche, Titoff ou encore Dany Boon.
