New WWE Champion Bobby Lashley will make his first title defense on tonight’s episode of Raw.
WWE has announced that tonight’s Raw will feature a WWE Championship rematch between Lashley and former champion The Miz. Last week, Lashley defeated The Miz in a lumberjack match to win the WWE Championship.
Last week’s Raw included a show-long storyline where The Miz tried to get out of facing Lashley. Miz delayed the match by claiming to be sick, then ran out of the match and purposely lost by countout when it did take place. Shane McMahon then told Miz that he would need to legitimately defend the WWE Championship against Lashley or he would be stripped of the title and it would be given to Lashley.
Lashley defeated The Miz in dominant fashion in the lumberjack match and won with The Hurt Lock.
Prior to losing the title to Lashley, The Miz had become WWE Champion by cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase on Drew McIntyre at last month’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. It was said that Miz and Lashley made a deal where Lashley would get the first shot at Miz’s title if he attacked McIntyre and helped Miz cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase.
Lashley celebrating his WWE Championship win is also set for tonight’s Raw. Lashley’s Hurt Business stablemates MVP, Shelton Benjamin, and Cedric Alexander will join him for the celebration.
The winner of this Sunday’s Face of the Revolution ladder match at AEW Revolution will get their TNT title shot on this Wednesday’s Dynamite.
While the title shot stipulation for the winner of Sunday’s match was already known, the date of that title shot against champion Darby Allin was not. Tony Khan announced the news on Thursday’s AEW Uncensored podcast.
Former TNT Champion Cody Rhodes, Scorpio Sky, Penta El Zero M, Lance Archer and Max Caster are all in the match with a surprise entrant to be announced on Sunday. Archer and Caster had to win matches in order to qualify with Caster picking up his victory last night.
Khan also added that there will literally be a brass ring the winner has to pull down in order to win. That’s a nod to Vince McMahon’s infamous 2014 statement on Steve Austin’s podcast.

Khan also doubled down on Paul Wight’s reveal on Wednesday’s Dynamite about a “Hall of Fame worthy” signing announced this Sunday. Khan said it will not be the surprise in the ladder match and that it’s a “major, huge, huge star in the world of wrestling: that will be signing a multi-year deal.”

A 900-year-old chess piece was identified after missing for almost 200 years. A family in Scotland’s capital city of Edinburgh kept the chessman in a drawer since 1964 with no details about the piece.
It was purchased for a few pounds by the family’s grandfather, an antique dealer, without knowing its value at the time, according to the BBC. The artifact was carved from walrus ivory during the 12th century and comes from the Viking era.A total of 93 pieces were originally discovered in 1831 on Scotland’s Isle of Lewis. The incomplete set is held at the British Museum in London and the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh where five pieces still remain missing, according to The Associated Press.
A family spokesman said in a statement, “My grandfather was an antiques dealer based in Edinburgh, and in 1964 he purchased an ivory chessman from another Edinburgh dealer,” according to the BBC. “It was cataloged in his purchase ledger that he had bought an ‘Antique Walrus Tusk Warrior Chessman.'”The piece was kept in a drawer until the grandfather died and it was passed on to a family member’s mother, the Edinburgh family told BBC. The family in Edingburgh took the piece to Sotheby’s European sculpture to be valued after more than 55 years of having it in their possession.Alexander Kader, an expert at Sotheby’s said the find is “one of the most exciting and personal rediscoveries to have been made during my career,” AP reports. The Sotheby’s auction house said Monday that it’s expected to bring in between 600,000 ($670,000) to 1 million pounds ($1.26 million dollars) at auction in July, according to AP.

Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and other top administration officials concluded a meeting at the White House with Mexican officials without reaching a deal to avoid tariffs on Mexican goods that President Trump has threatened to impose if the country doesn’t block the flow of migrants illegally entering the U.S.
Mr. Trump, who is traveling overseas, tweeted that “not nearly enough” progress had been made to persuade him not to impose the tariffs, which are set to go into effect June 10.”Immigration discussions at the White House with representatives of Mexico have ended for the day. Progress is being made, but not nearly enough! Border arrests for May are at 133,000 because of Mexico & the Democrats in Congress refusing to budge on immigration reform,” the president wrote, referring to figures released Wednesday showing the number of migrants apprehended at the border in May was the highest it’s been in more than a decade.
Mr. Trump said talks will resume on Thursday “with the understanding that, if no agreement is reached, Tariffs at the 5% level will begin on Monday, with monthly increases as per schedule.”In a press conference, Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said tariffs were not specifically discussed at Wednesday’s meeting, which he said was focused on the steps Mexico will take to mitigate the migration problem.A White House official told CBS News that reaching a deal wasn’t the goal for Wednesday’s meeting. The meeting lasted roughly 90 minutes, two White House officials said. The White House has not publicly laid out specific targets Mexico must meet to avoid the tariffs, saying in general terms that Mexico should stem the flow of migrants from Central America and send them back to their home countries.Mr. Trump announced last week that he will impose 5% tariffs on all goods entering the U.S. from Mexico beginning on June 10 “until such time as illegal migrants coming through Mexico, and into our country, STOP.” The tariffs would gradually increase each month, Mr. Trump said, a threat the White House insists is very much real.Outgoing top economic adviser Kevin Hassett admitted the tariffs would hurt the U.S. economy, but said they would cause far greater harm to the Mexican economy. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce says the tariffs would be detrimental to the U.S. economy.Peter Navarro, a top trade adviser to the president, told CNN Wednesday the tariffs might not have to take effect, because “we have the Mexicans’ attention.”
Even Republicans have voiced opposition to the president’s proposed tariffs on Mexican goods, with some of them insisting it would overstep presidential authority and damage the strong U.S. economy. Senate Majority Mitch McConnell said many in his caucus won’t support the tariffs, but it remains to be seen if Republicans would take legislative action to oppose the president.Prior to Wednesday’s talks, Mexico’s foreign minister expressed optimism this week that the tariffs can be averted.”From Washington I can report that we have made progress during meetings with cabinet members, private think tanks, specialists. We are working hard to reach an understanding. It’s doable and desirable. 80/20 chances in favor of doing it,” Ebrard said in a tweet translated from Spanish.CBS News White House correspondent Weijia Jiang contributed to this report.

A swarm of meteors heading toward Earth could have the potential to cause a catastrophic impact, a new study from Western Ontario University says. The so-called Taurid swarm is a recurring event that some scientists believe could have played a role in the biggest Earth impact of modern times, in 1908, when a space rock slammed into Siberia with enough force to destroy an entire forest.
What has become known as the Tunguska explosion of 1908 was so powerful that the blast leveled 80 million trees over an 800-square-mile area. It’s considered to be a one-in-1,000-year event, according to Western Ontario University. But while the Tunguska explosion occurred just over a century ago, another such phenomenon could occur much sooner than its 1,000-year expectancy, the researchers say. That’s why they’re focusing new attention on the Taurid swarm. The Taurid swarm is a dense cluster of meteors within the Taurid meteor stream. Earth periodically passes through the Taurid swarm, and it is one of the three space phenomenons that could result in a catastrophic collision. Near Earth Objects (NEOs) such as asteroids and meteoroids, as well as comets are the other two potential causes. The Taurid swarm is created when Earth passes through the debris left behind by Comet Encke, according to NASA. The comet’s dust barrels through Earth’s atmosphere at 65,000 mph, burns up and creates a meteor shower. This Taurid meteor shower is usually weak, but there are some years where it is more visible, NASA says.
The Taurid swarm heightens the possibility of a large collision, Western Ontario University researchers hypothesized. This summer, Earth will approach within 30,000,000 km of the center of the Taurid swarm, the study says. That would be Earth’s closest encounter with the swarm since 1975 and the best viewing opportunity we’ll have until the early 2030s.This closeness will not only benefit star-gazers, but it also allows the researchers to study the Taurid swarm and its potentially risks.”There is strong meteoric and NEO evidence supporting the Taurid swarm and its potential existential risks, but this summer brings a unique opportunity to observe and quantify these objects,” said David Clark, a Western Ontario University graduate student and first author of the study. While the Taurid swarm is not expected to cause any harm, Western Ontario University researchers will be studying it closely by using the Canada-France-Hawaii telescope at the University of Hawaii in August. That’s when they’ll get optimal viewing to gather information — and hopefully learn more about whether the swarm is capable of causing a repeat of the 1908 impact.

England Under-21s boss Aidy Boothroyd believes it is the perfect time for Mason Greenwood to end his international exile.
The Manchester United forward has returned to the England set-up after being named in Boothroyd’s squad for the Euro 2021 group phase.
It marks his comeback after Greenwood was sent home from the seniors, after breaching coronavirus regulations with Phil Foden, following his debut in a 1-0 win in Iceland in September last year.
OPINION: Premier League winners and losers after north London derby
The Young Lions face Switzerland in their opening Group D game in Koper, Slovenia, on March 25, with the group stage being held this month due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Boothroyd said: “We treat every player as an individual and we think very carefully when and where we pick them. Clearly in Mason’s situation, it was right that he wasn’t right to play for his country and to stay where he was.
“That period of time has done him the world of good, he’s getting more minutes there. That’s a positive thing. We hope he can continue that with us.
“He’s got a lot of support around him from his club and from us. Gareth (Southgate) is speaking regularly to Ole (Gunnar Solskjaer) in this case and we think he’s a top player. Has he got something to prove?
“Every time he gets on the pitch there is an expectation of him because he’s a very good young player. But he is young, he needs guidance and help. Gareth will speak to him before we meet up. I’ll speak to him to see how he is and see how we can get the most out of him.
“We’re talking about a player here who is nowhere near his potential. But he’s growing up, he’s learning about himself as a footballer and a person. We’re really looking forward to seeing what he can do on the big stage.”
Greenwood is joined by Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi while uncapped Josh Griffiths, Emile Smith Rowe and Noni Madueke of PSV Eindhoven have earned their first call-ups, along with Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga.
Despite his lack of action at Arsenal, Eddie Nketiah – who top scored in the qualifiers with 13 goals to become the Under-21s’ record scorer – is selected along with Everton duo Ben Godfrey and Tom Davies, while Aaron Ramsdale is expected to be Aidy Boothroyd’s number one.
England also face Portugal in Ljubljana on March 28 and Croatia in Koper three days later, with the knock-out stages in May and June after the tournament was split up.
Boothroyd is also unable to select Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala after the forward chose to play for Germany.
The 18-year-old, who was born in Stuttgart, made two appearances during the Under-21s’ qualifying campaign, scoring on his debut against Albania in November, but pledged his international future to Germany last month.
“Jamal is a very measured young man. He’s obviously thought it through,” Boothroyd added. “When you’re working in Germany, speak German and you live with your German mum, it’s very difficult to persuade him that he’s actually English.
“It was his decision, he talked about having a heart for Germany and I totally understand that. We wish him the best of luck and we move on and focus on the players who want to be part of what we want to build.”

The failed Man City move for Barcelona wonderkid Ilaix Moriba has been revealed by the player’s father.
The midfielder was closely linked with a switch to the Etihad in January 2019 after contract talks stalled with Barca.
The player eventually opted to remain with the Spanish giants and has since broken into the first team.
OPINION: Leicester remind Blades how much worse things can get
Moriba’s father Mamady has publicly spoken about the failed transfer for the first time.
He told Spanish source Dario Sport (via ESPN): “With Barca, negotiations were not advancing. We met [Man City sporting director] Txiki Begiristain and he explained the project to us.
“We liked it because they were betting big on Ilaix. A few weeks later we had our tickets to Manchester to go and sign the contract.
“I cancelled it that same morning we were supposed to go there. I wanted Ilaix to be a reference point for the upcoming Barca generations. His friends had gone. If he stayed it was proof that Barcelona bet on young players. And we reached a deal where everyone won.”
The comments reveal just how close Man City were to signing one of Barca’s best young stars.
Moriba has featured six times for Barca in all competitions this campaign.
He scored his first La Liga goal in a 2-0 victory over Osasuna earlier this month.
The player also came on as a substitute in their recent Champions League draw with PSG, which saw them go out in the round of 16.
Manager Ronald Koeman is a big fan of Moriba and sees him as a future star.
The 19-year-old tends to operate as a central midfielder but can also play in defensive midfield or further forward.
He is just one of several young stars on the books at the Nou Camp.
The likes of Pedri, Francisco Trincao and Riqui Puig could also help to soften the blow of losing Lionel Messi soon.
Moriba almost became the latest Barca youngster to join Man City.
Talented centre-back Eric Garcia left the Catalan giants for Manchester in 2017.

But after failing to become a member of Pep Guardiola’s squad, Garcia now looks set for a summer exit.
Mason Greenwood and Callum Hudson-Odoi have been selected in the England U21 squad for this year’s European Championships.
The tournament, set to take place in Hungary and Slovenia, will see the Young Lions aim to end a 37-year wait for the trophy.
Arsenal duo Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah also make Aidy Boothroyd’s 23-man squad.
FEATURE: Premier League XIs: Players turned caretaker bosses
After revealing his squad for the tournament, Boothroyd said: “I am excited by this group – not just in their ability but also their togetherness and team spirit – and know they will do everything they can to make the country proud.
“I am grateful to Gareth (Southgate) for his support with what we are trying to achieve, and also to the clubs for recognising the importance of these finals.
“We want to win every time we play and will do all we can to reach the knockout stage – but this is also a crucial opportunity for providing valuable experience on and off the pitch that will help the players, their clubs and England in the future.”
Greenwood and Hudson-Odoi are among the most experienced players in the squad. They will be hoping to lead a promising England side to glory.
Greenwood has played 23 times in the Premier League this season for Manchester United.
However, his tally of one goal and one assist is below what he achieved last term.
Hudson-Odoi is enjoying a mixed season with Chelsea. He’s suffered from a hip injury and has also had to deal with the change of managers, from Frank Lampard to Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel seems to trust the winger but rarely plays him for a full 90 minutes in the Premier League.
Smith Rowe has been great for Arsenal this campaign, scoring five goals and registering six assists in all competitions.
Teammate Nketiah recently surpassed Alan Shearer to become the all-time leading goalscorer for the England U21s.
Tottenham’s Japhet Tanganga and PSV’s Noni Madueke have earned their first call-ups. They’re joined by West Bromwich Albion’s Josh Griffiths.
Sheffield United keeper Aaron Ramsdale is widely expected to be Boothroyd’s number one.
He’s endured a tough season with the Blades but has made some great saves in that time.
Everton duo Tom Davies and Ben Godfrey are also selected.
Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala was widely tipped for a call-up before opting to represent Germany. It’s thought that departing Germany boss Joachim Low played a big part in his decision.
Full squad: Bursik, Griffiths, Ramsdale, Aarons, Godfrey, Guehi, Kelly, Ryan Sessegnon, Steven Sessengon, Tanganga, Wilmot, Davies, Eze, Gallagher, Jones, McNeil, Skipp, Brewster, Greenwood, Hudson-Odoi, Madueke, Nketiah, Smith Rowe.
