WWE EVOLUTION PPV SUNDAY AT 7 P.M. EASTERN FROM THE NASSAU COLISEUM ON THE WWE NETWORK
Sasha Banks & Bayley & Natalya vs. Ruby Riott & Sarah Logan & Liv Morgan — Should be a standard decent match. Doesn’t really matter who wins. It’s a good place to shoot an angle to differentiate this between all the similar TV matches these women have been having. Banks & Bayley & Natalya are -260 favorites.
Battle Royal — This has everyone on the main roster plus a lot of women from the past including Ivory and Madusa. Madusa hasn’t wrestled in 18 years. The idea should be to have the winner be someone who is about to challenge one of the champions so Ember Moon, Asuka, Naomi, Carmella and Nia Jax could be favored. Carmella and Naomi have won big women’s matches in the past so they may give someone else the big rub here. Asuka has been underutilized of late and Moon is the one who hasn’t gotten the big win or a main roster title shot yet.
Trish Stratus & Lita vs. Mickie James & Alicia Fox — Alexa Bliss wasn’t cleared for this match and Fox replaces her. This match was pushed on television more than anything but the top two bouts. Stratus and Lita are -450 favorites.
Toni Storm vs. Io Shirai in the Mae Young Classic final — For actual wrestling, this should be the best match on the show. Shirai is tremendous and Storm is a great seller, and they’ve worked a number of excellent main events in Japan together. If the crowd gives them a chance, they can steal the show. Storm is a -300 favorite. For what it’s worth, Shirai is only in the finals because of the Tegan Nox injury so she was clearly not supposed to win. Storm was at least already earmarked for the finals.
Kairi Sane vs. Shayna Baszler for the NXT women’s title — Their Takeover match was very good. Sane is an excellent worker, one of the best in the company. Baszler is excellent at playing her character. Key here is will the crowd react big to them or be a main roster crowd who doesn’t know them. As far as delivering the match, they’ve already shown they can, but the crowd is really the variable here. Sane is a -365 favorite to retain. Those odds feel really long unless Baszler is headed to the main roster because Baszler makes a good champion there.
Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown women’s title in a last woman standing match — There are high expectations for this match. They’ve gotten strong reviews at the recent house shows. It will be interesting to see if the crowd will boo Charlotte, or cheer both. I don’t see Lynch being booed at all in New York. This is Lynch’s biggest career match in some ways and last woman standing usually means longer and more brutal for WWE. Lynch is a -275 favorite to retain her title.
Ronda Rousey vs. Nikki Bella for the Raw women’s title — They have been practicing this match all week. Rousey has for the most part overachieved on big shows so I expect this to be better than the oddsmakers as far as match quality. Rousey is a -900 favorite so I think it would be a big surprise if the title changes hands. This doesn’t feel like the time for it. Unless things change, and they often do, Rousey vs. Nikki goes on last. That or the Charlotte Flair match are the only ones I could see going on last.

Smackdown, Mixed match Challenge and 205 Live are Tuesday in Atlanta. Announced so far is Tony Nese vs. Mustafa Ali with the winner getting a cruiserweight title shot, Brian Kendrick vs. Jack Gallagher, Braun Strowman & Ember Moon vs. Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox and Rusev & Lana vs. Charlotte Flair & A.J. Styles.

SUNDAY NEWS UPDATE
WWE has done a ton of media for today’s show with the women trying to promote this as a ground breaking event. It will be interesting viewing the interest level. The show is a few hundred tickets from sold out but the secondary market for tickets was very soft. I have a higher level of interest than a normal PPV show, with so many first-timers and the risk of putting on a few matches, which may steal the show, involving people who have never been on Raw or Smackdown, notably Kairi Sane vs. Shayna Baszler and Io Shirai vs. Toni Storm.
Almost all the NXT women are in New York. There was talk all along about 50 women and that everyone who has made NXT television would be used on the show, but for weeks, the 50 women has not been mentioned and if any other matches other than the ones announced are on the show it is being kept quiet.
Kambi’s odds on star ratings for tonight:
Battle Royal **
Bayley & Banks & Natalya vs. Riott & Morgan & Logan **1/2
Storm vs. Shirai ***3/4
Sane vs. Baszler ***1/2
Stratus & Lita vs. Fox & James *3/4
Lynch vs. Flair ****
Rousey vs. Nikki Bella **3/4
To the best of my knowledge, the gambling odds for star ratings of Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch are the highest for any women’s match in history. Kambi only does WWE PPV matches and I think New Japan WrestleKingdoms as far as star ratings gambling.
One person in production noted that they expect a higher than usual percentage of women in the crowd and shots of emotional women if they can find them to paint the story that this show is a ground breaking event for real-world women are being talked about right now. They always look for emotional reaction shots, men or women, so this isn’t that off the usual ground.
A notable thing is that most, but not all, of the press related to this show hasn’t mentioned Saudi Arabia, both the controversy of going there this week, or the obvious tie of a women’s only show to combat the idea of a big show where women aren’t allowed.
The real story here in the long run is if the show is deemed successful enough to make it annual, or even more, and how it is promoted the second and subsequent times.
Tons of people from the past and NXT women are there as well as main roster people including Finn Balor, Miz and Shawn Michaels, as well as Ric Flair (obviously) are supposed to be at the show. Vickie Guerrero is confirmed in New York and Eve Torres’ name was mentioned by PW Insider.
WWE
Lots of teases about the potential announcement of women tag team titles tonight. There were visible signs at both TV’s and Stephanie McMahon told Sky Sports an announcement would be “sooner than we think.”
Becky Lynch interview is in the New York Daily News.
