Shakopee’s Lloyd wins USA Wrestling national championship

FARGO — Patience paid off for Shakopee, Minnesota’s Alexander Lloyd at the USA Wrestling ASICS/Vaughan Junior & Cadet National Championships Monday at the Fargodome. Lloyd defeated Brock Hardy from Brigham City, Utah, 5-4 to win the 132-pound cadet Greco-Roman national championship.

“I stayed patient and controlled my ties,” said the 16-year-old Lloyd, who finished sixth in 2014. “Usually I’m not as patient as I was this week but it just came out that way. I knew that if I stayed patient and controlled on my ties I could be on top of the podium instead of like last year where I ended up losing.” Continue reading at www.inforum.com

Backstage Update on Reigns’ Announcement & Who Knew Beforehand

According to Dave Meltzer on a recent edition of The Wrestling Observer Radio Program, Roman Reigns’ leukemia diagnosis was made within the last six days – after last week’s RAW and before this past weekend’s house shows. Only a small number of people knew about Reigns’ announcement beforehand and WWE’s statement was that the situation was “going to be addressed on RAW.” Bryan Alvarez speculated that perhaps most people were told he had an injury announcement but nobody really knew that it was leukemia so it came as an absolute shock to pretty much everyone.

Wade Keller of Pro Wrestling Torch reported that “everyone just stopped what they were doing” backstage and none of the wrestlers were even told or tipped off to gather around to listen to what Reigns had to say.
