Man City have £41m bid for Ake accepted by Bournemouth

Man City have had a £41m bid accepted for Bournemouth centre-back Nathan Ake, according to reports.

The Netherlands international will now surely be up for grabs with the Cherries relegated to the Championship and it was claimed at the end of June that ‘early discussions have taken place’ over a potential move to Manchester City.

The likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Leicester City have all been linked with Ake, while Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fueled rumours that he could be heading to Old Trafford at the beginning of July.

However, it now seems that Ake could be on his way to neighbours Man City with reports indicating that Pep Guardiola’s men have had a £41m bid accepted for the Cherries defender.

Speaking before Bournemouth were relegated from the Premier League on Sunday, Eddie Howe refused to respond to rumours linking Ake with a move away, he said: “There’s going to be no comment from me on that.

“Everything beyond Sunday is not for me to comment on now. Let’s let that happen after the game.

“He’s a very good player, but he’s our player and he’s focused on trying to keep us in the division at this moment in time.”

Sanchez on ‘collision course’ with Man Utd as he refuses return

Alexis Sanchez wants to remain at Inter Milan after his loan spell and doesn’t want to return to Man Utd, according to reports.

Sanchez joined Man Utd in a part-exchange deal from Arsenal, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving the other way. But the forward struggled immensely at Old Trafford, scoring just five goals for the club in 45 appearances.

He was sent on loan to Inter Milan in the summer but has been unable to establish himself under Antonio Conte due to injury. However, the Italian side are understood to be keen on bringing him to the club permanently at the end of the season with his form improving since lockdown.

There have been reports over the last couple of days that Sanchez had agreed a deal with Inter but that Man Utd still wanted a £15m fee for the Chilean.

And now the Daily Star explains that Sanchez is on a ‘collision course’ with Man Utd as he’s ‘keen to secure a permanent move’ to Inter.

The Red Devils are ready to ‘give him another chance to prove himself’ at Old Trafford but it seems the Chilean has other ideas.

The 31-year-old is ‘expected back in Manchester next month’ when his loan deal at the Serie A side expires with Man Utd chiefs believing ‘he can still have an impact’.

The report adds that Sanchez has ‘no intention of heading back to Manchester and has made it clear to United bosses that he sees his future elsewhere.’

United’s apparent interest in Jadon Sancho is likely to ‘leave him further down the pecking order’ at Old Trafford while he was already understood to be ‘an outcast in the United dressing room’.

Despite previous reports suggesting the Red Devils would accept £15m for Sanchez, the Daily Star says that Inter are willing to pay £30m if the Chile international lowers his wage demands.

Finally a source adds: “Alexis doesn’t see the point in going back to Manchester. He’s happy where he is. It just didn’t work out for him at United and wants the club to accept that he wants to leave.”

Arsenal defender will stay despite transfer rumours, says his agent

Sokratis Papastathopoulos will stay at Arsenal even though transfer rumours suggest otherwise, says his agent Konstantinos Farras.

The defender has been a bit-part player under Mikel Arteta this season and has struggled for game time. The Spaniard has preferred the centre-back pairing of David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi for most of the campaign.

Speaking to reporter Freddie Paxton, Farras said: “He will stay. I don’t see a reason to leave. I don’t know why everyone is writing wrong and fake news.”

However, Arsenal could still be willing to sell the 32-year-old before his contract expires next summer. They’re unlikely to want the player to leave for free or to join a rival club.

Back in March, Sokratis hinted at an Arsenal exit by saying he would not ‘sit on his contract’.

The Greece international could be sold this summer if he’s seen as surplus to requirements by Arteta.

The Gunners have French youngster William Saliba and recent signing Pablo Mari available next season. They will both contest for a first-team place and could push Sokratis down the pecking order at the Emirates if they perform well.

Saliba in particular looks like one to watch. The St Etienne academy graduate has been likened to World Cup winner Raphael Varane in the past and could have a breakthrough Premier League season in 2020/21.

He’s been given the famous number four shirt which was previously worn by legendary captain Patrick Viera.

And he spent last season on loan at former club St Etienne, under previous Southampton and Leicester manager Claude Puel.

Sokratis may be sold to free up funds for Arsenal’s ambitious transfer plans this summer. The North London outfit are currently linked with Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho, as well as a permanent move for midfielder Dani Ceballos.

If Sokratis remains at the Emirates for another season, Arsenal could have some serious competition at centre-back which may finally solve their defensives woes.
