Eric Young returns at Impact Slammiversary

After plenty of speculation, Eric Young made his return to Impact Wrestling at Saturday’s Slammiversary.

Rich Swann was announced as the mystery fourth entrant for the vacant World title fatal four way, but Young’s music hit afterward and he said the match was now a five way instead. He was eliminated by Swann during the match, leading to an attack afterward that injured Swann and made him prone to a subsequent elimination by Ace Austin.

The 40-year-old Young spent 12 years with Impact/TNA from 2004 through 2016, winning every title the company had.

He was released by WWE as part of their April financial cuts after five years in the system. He spent three years in NXT as the leader of the SAnitY stable, winning the tag titles, before they were called up to SmackDown in April 2018.

Toward the end of his run and after being split off from the group following a move to Raw, he was relegated to Main Event matches with the occasional Raw appearance thrown in.
