CBS Syndicated Columnist Chuck Carroll recently interviewed Silas Young. Despite the teases on social media that he would be signing with WWE, Young says that he expects to re-sign with Ring Of Honor at this weekend’s TV tapings in Nashville. Young said that that he was just having fun on Twitter when he was dropping WWE hints.
The full interview is up at http://sports.cbslocal.com/2018/01/18/silas-young-ring-of-honor-champion-wwe-joke/
Here are some highlights: Recently, you tweeted that your contract had expired with Ring of Honor. Where do things stand there? Are you interested in resigning, or are you testing the free agent waters?
Oh no, I’m gonna re-sign with Ring of Honor, I’m really happy. I just like to have fun on the Internet sometimes, that’s all. Obviously then, you saw the stories about, “Is he going back to WWE? Is he unhappy at Ring of Honor?” That was just you having a little bit of fun, huh?
Yeah, it was just me and my family. We were down in Orlando and the weather was kinda cold and crappy. I was like, “Oh, I’m just gonna post this to amuse myself.” Would you have any interest in trying to go back to WWE? Or are you happy taking the path that Cody [Rhodes] and the Bucks are on, and really carving your own way outside of the McMahon auspices?
Right now, I feel like I have really good momentum with Ring of Honor. I feel like there’s really good things happening there, I’m really starting to come into my own. I have a lot of things I want to accomplish. Right now, I don’t see it happening, but never say never in wrestling. I’m really happy. I really enjoy the work, the schedule, the creative freedom, everything that Ring of Honor allows us.
You’re the Ring of Honor TV champion. What sense of pride and accomplishment comes with being told that you’re gonna win gold in the promotion? You must see that as a vote of confidence from the bookers.
Yeah, absolutely. In wrestling, a lot of guys, we’ve wrestled a lot of different places, and we’ve won championships before. To be honest with you, winning the Ring of Honor World Television Title, there was a huge sense of pride with that. It’s a world-renowned company, and it’s a belt that’s only been held by guys who are highly respected. I take a lot of pride in that, and like you said, it’s knowing that the company, the bookers, they have confidence in you, they think you can carry that. It’s awesome, I’m enjoying it. Now we’re also seeing a huge vote of confidence in the women, with the women’s tournament, and crowning the first ever women’s champion. What have you seen out of that division?
Women’s wrestling, in general, has been a huge thing, and a huge thing to pop up in the last, I don’t know, few years or so. It’s good that Ring of Honor’s recognizing that there’s a lot of really good, talented female wrestlers out there. It’s good that they’re getting another place and opportunity to showcase that.

Last Monday night on RAW 25, we saw Roman Reigns lose the Intercontinental Title to The Miz, making The Miz an eight-time Intercontinental Champion. Roman Reigns sent a tweet commenting on his loss. Below is the tweet sent out by Roman Reigns on losing the title:
#Raw25 was a special night for @WWE and Brooklyn didn’t disappoint. Not the outcome I was expecting but every day is a new fight. This is still #MyYard and I’m going to continue to prove why. #WitnessMe

After outlasting 29 other Superstars in the historic first-ever 30-Woman Royal Rumble Match, Asuka was set to decide which Women’s Championship she would challenge for at WrestleMania. Yet, the sudden, jaw-dropping appearance of UFC star Ronda Rousey caused chaos as the event concluded. How will Rousey change the landscape of the WWE women’s divisions and this year’s Showcase of the Immortals?
Will Raw Get “Rowdy”?
Donning the jacket of WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, UFC’s Ronda Rousey shockingly appeared last night at the Royal Rumble event to confront Asuka, the winner of the first-ever 30-Woman Royal Rumble Match, along with RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss and SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair.
Rousey made it clear that she was going to WrestleMania, but her sudden emergence in WWE has clouded the Team Red Women’s division. What did her handshake with RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon mean? What exactly is Rousey planning for this year’s Show of Shows? And how will it be addressed tonight on RAW?
Can The Miz Carry the Intercontinental Title All the Way to WrestleMania?
Last Monday night at RAW 25, The Miz captured his eighth Intercontinental Championship at the expense of Roman Reigns, and although The A-Lister was unsuccessful in winning the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match — that accolade went to SmackDown LIVE’s Shinsuke Nakamura — he nevertheless has reason to boast on RAW tonight in Philadelphia, as he looks to wear his Intercontinental Title under the bright lights of WrestleMania.
Will Miz be successful in his quest, or will The Big Dog retaliate and recapture his prize? We’ll no doubt hear from the “must-see” champion and its former bearer tonight.
How Will Seth Rollins Respond to Last Night’s Defeat?
Last night at the Royal Rumble event, Sheamus & Cesaro became four-time RAW Tag Team Champions by defeating Seth Rollins & Jason Jordan, although the “gold-blooded” Superstar never actually competed in the bout due to an apparent injury at ringside.
After he succumbed to a costly two-on-one assault at the hands of The Bar, The Kingslayer probably has a lot on his mind. How will Rollins deal with this unfortunate defeat, and what will have to say to Jordan?
What Havoc Will Braun Strowman Wreak?
In an absolutely hellacious brawl last night in Philadelphia — which is really saying something given the city’s ECW history — Brock Lesnar defeated Braun Strowman and Kane to retain his Universal Championship. However, since it was The Big Red Machine and not The Monster Among Men who was pinned, Strowman clearly has unfinished business with The Conqueror.
Given his temperament following the bell, Strowman is clearly in a foul mood. Tonight in the City of Brotherly Love, someone’s going to “get those hands.”
Don’t miss RAW tonight!

According to PWInsider, some of the names that were backstage at last Sunday night’s Royal Rumble PPV were The Undertaker, WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson, WWE Hall of Famer Nikolai Volkoff and Paige. The reason that The Undertaker was there was to see his wife Michelle McCool work the Women’s Royal Rumble Match. He did not give any indication to what his WrestleMania 34 plans are. WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson, the creator of the Royal Rumble match, was there to lend his expertise and advise.
WWE Hall of Famer Nikolai Volkoff was there just to visit and he was said to have come in from nearby Baltimore where he lives. Paige was backstage but she was not used due to her injury. Several NXT Superstars were also backstage for the whole show, but some reportedly left after finding out they weren’t needed.
Another match has been confirmed for tonight’s post-Extreme Rules episode of Raw.
WWE has announced that SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley vs. Kairi Sane in a non-title match is set for Raw tonight. Bayley and Sane’s tag team partners faced off at Extreme Rules, with Sasha Banks leaving with Asuka’s Raw Women’s title belt when Bayley interfered, put on the referee’s shirt, and counted the pin after Asuka accidentally spit green mist in the referee’s eyes.
Bayley retained her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Nikki Cross at Extreme Rules last night.
The main event of last week’s Raw was Bayley & Banks retaining their Women’s Tag Team titles against Sane & Asuka.
While reporting on today’s Raw tapings being delayed and rewritten, Dave Meltzer wrote about Sane’s status with WWE: “Another item scheduled for the original episode was the one talked about two weeks ago in the Observer regarding Kairi Sane leaving. There was a plan in place for tonight’s show where Sane would be written out via injury which would lead to a new feud for Asuka. It is not confirmed whether that is still on the show, but at the time tonight was Sane’s last night with the company as she will be returning to Japan after recently getting married. She may continue to be with the company while living in Japan but will not be a regular active roster performer.”
Randy Orton vs. Big Show in an unsanctioned match and Seth Rollins vs. Aleister Black have also been announced for tonight’s Raw, along with WWE following up on the situations with the Raw Women’s Championship and United States Championship coming out of Extreme Rules. MVP called himself the new United States Champion last night due to Apollo Crews not being able to compete in their scheduled match.
