How To Spend Time With Volleyball This Christmas

If you are looking at participating in volleyball activities during the Christmas here are some ways to unwind with this amazing sport.

Playing the game is more than knowing what to do in a court, it involves learning the habits of your teammates as well as gaining a sense of awareness. Through constant practice, a person can develop these skills which will be useful later in life.

Of course, you don’t need to be a pro to play volleyball. It can be enjoyed by people of all ages and can be played throughout the year, both indoors and outdoors. But what can you do during holidays?

1. Play Volleyball By Yourself
Playing volleyball is a good way to burn calories and keep fit. The game also enhances muscular strength and stamina. It is also excellent for improving agility, and balance.

Whether you are a pro or still learning you can work on sharpening your skills and learning new skills. Some skills you can learn/improve include:

  • How to Serve Overhand
An overhand serve is one of the basic serves of volleyball. To serve overhand serve overhand, stand behind the serving line, throw the ball in the air to a comfortable height above your head and hit with a palm over the net as hard as you can.
  • Learn How to Pass and Bump More Accurately
Passes and bumps are the lifelines of the game. The better you are at both, the higher the chances of your team scoring and earning points.
  • Learning How to Hit
The hit is to volleyball what the shot is to soccer. If you master the move well enough, you’ll surely stand out in court.
  • Learning to Block
Blocking prevents the other team from scoring against your team.
  • Learning to Set
A good set paves way for players to score for the team.

While practicing, you can play with your friends, siblings or even teach your little ones how to play

2. Try to Win Betting on Volleyball Games
What good is having a passion for sports if you can’t put your money on it? You can bet on your favorite teams to win and be rewarded if your predictions come true. The bookmarker William Hill is offering free bets this Christmas. Take advantage of the William Hill free bet offer to place bets on your favorite teams this holiday.

3. Watch Volleyball Games
This is one of the ways you can keep in sync with volleyball this yuletide. You can watch the FIVB world volleyball league to see how professionals play and cheer your favorite teams. You can also watch some college volleyball games via streaming on YouTube channels.

“I Walk With the Dead” : Carey Mulligan retrouve Nicolas Winding Refn !

Bientôt à l’affiche de “Drive”, Carey Mulligan pourrait très vite retrouver son réalisateur, Nicolas Winding Refn, pour les besoins du thriller érotique “I Walk With the Dead”.

Former Man Utd defender names Ferguson’s ‘genius signing’

Robin van Persie “was a genius signing” and “the manager’s dream” at Man Utd.

Van Persie was essentially Sir Alex Ferguson’s cheat code to ensure his final season at Man Utd ended with one lats Premier League title.

The Dutchman won the Golden Boot and scored the title-clinching goals in a hat-trick against Aston Villa in April 2013.

Ridiculous statistics: Man Utd and the 76 hat-tricks since their last…

Evans, the Leicester centre-half who made 30 appearances for Man Utd that season, says he was the difference that season.

“It was a genius signing, to get someone from one of your rival clubs, where he’d been [for so long] – everyone was shocked,” he told The Guardian.

“He came to Manchester United to win the title, and he was a man on a mission that year. Ferguson loved people who could produce things out of the bag, moments of brilliance, moments of magic, and he had that in abundance.”

Evans picked out one particular game, a 3-2 win over Chelsea in October 2012 in which the Dutchman scored and helped reduce the Blues to ten men.

“We’d been working in training on trying to get Ashley Young running in between the right-back and right centre-back,” Evans said.

“There was a moment where Robin caught everyone out and tried a reverse pass with his right foot, into Ashley’s path. Branislav Ivanovic ended up getting sent off for being the last player.

“To be able to carry out this kind of plan made Robin the manager’s dream. There are other moments that stand out, too. His goal against Arsenal in his first game against them at Old Trafford – he did so with his right, and you think: ‘This guy can score.’”

Premier League winger insists he can ‘be better’ than Mane

Southampton winger Moussa Djenepo believes he is capable of being “the next” version of Liverpool striker Sadio Mane.

Djenepo joined Southampton from Standard Liege in a deal worth up to £15million last summer.

The 21-year-old has begun relatively slowly in the Premier League, scoring two goals and assisting a further two in 18 appearances, of which ten have been starts.

Liverpool plan to offer Mane ‘blockbuster’ new deal to ward off Real

But the Mali international insists he “can be better” than “big inspiration” Mane in time.

“Sadio is a big inspiration for me. I like him, he’s a very big player,” he told talkSPORT.

“But I think I can be better if I work hard. Sadio is a very big player, and I’m young and I need to learn more.

“In the future we will see. I will do my best to become the next Sadio Mane.”

And when he does get better than Mane, Liverpool will just sign him. Perfect.

Djenepo also paid tribute to former Liverpool striker and current Saints teammate Danny Ings, who remains in the running to win the Premier League Golden Boot.

“It was a big motivation for me, that a big player like Danny took time to text you when you are young like I am,” he said.

“It meant everything to me. Danny’s a very, very good guy. He’s given me so much advice in training, we smile together and I’m trying to teach him the French language as well!”

Taylor launches defence of controversial Charlton call

Lyle Taylor has explained and defended his decision not to extend his Charlton contract to the end of the current season.

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer confirmed that top scorer Taylor, as well as Chris Solly and David Davis, will not play when the season resumes on June 20.

In the case of Taylor, the fact his contract was already expiring meant that he did not wish to risk injury in the final games of the season, particularly considering Swansea, West Brom, Sheffield Wednesday, Rangers and Galatasaray have been linked.

The Timo Werner transfer update everyone was waiting for…

His decision to abstain from playing in Charlton’s relegation battle has not been well received but the 30-year-old realises he will not get “sympathy” from the supporters.

“I’ve sat in my living room staring at a blank TV screen for hours on end these last few weeks,” he told Sky Sports. “I’ve not eaten or slept properly. I’ve been up ’til 5am listening to the birds chirping thinking about it.

“Then I finally came to the decision together with the manager that he has openly spoken about. He said to me ‘Lyle I can see how cut up this has made you’. But this is a time nobody has had to deal with before – lockdown has been difficult for everyone.

“I’m gutted at the way it’s finishing, but I don’t expect people to care. I know that once the damage is done it’s irreparable and I don’t really expect any sympathy.

“We are the first ones able to go back so that’s difficult for footballers and football clubs. My reasons and concerns stem from my knee injury – it plays on the mind.

“It makes me think what would happen if I had an injury now that threatened the rest of my career. I’ll be honest with you, it scared the life out of me.

“That’s my honest reasoning. I know it won’t sit well with people but it’s been a very had decision to make.

“I want to play to keep this team in the league; we have worked so hard to get here. But there is something in the back of my head that says if you get a serious injury the chance you have worked and dreamed of since you were six-years-old is gone. I’m not 26 or 27 – I’m 30 years old. The way I play, it puts me in positions that I could get seriously injured at any time.

“I hope people can look at this and not hate me. I’d like to think people will listen to this with more of an open mind and look into my journey and where I’ve came from.”

“I’m sure not many people will be sympathetic simply because I do the job that I do. I’m not okay with that but I’ll have to live with that.

“But this is a special set of circumstances and I’ll maybe have to think about looking about myself, my body and my livelihood this time.

“I have to be maybe a little more worried about myself and my future than what someone else feels they can say about me on radio, TV or social media.”

Spurs forward Son gives details of his ‘tough’ military service

Spurs forward Son Heung-min has described his military service in South Korea as “tough” but said he was able to enjoy it during the Premier League’s enforced hiatus.

All South Korean men must complete mandatory military service by the age of 28 but Son, who turns 28 in July, avoided missing any time for Tottenham as he completed his last month with the season suspended amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The enforced break has also allowed Son to complete his recovery from the arm fracture he suffered in Spurs’ 3-2 win over Aston Villa in February.

FEATURE: ‘Soccer’, ‘Fancy Dan’ and more missed football phrases…

“It’s been a very busy three months,” Son joked in a video on the Spurs website.

Son was excused the full 21-month military service after helping South Korea to victory in the 2018 Asian Games, but was still required to serve a shorter period.

“It was a good experience,” Son said. “I couldn’t say everything that I’ve done but I really enjoyed it. Those guys were nice. The three weeks were tough but I tried to enjoy it.

“I don’t know how the people felt, but for me the three weeks have been long but it was a good experience, I enjoyed it.

“The first day when we don’t know each other was a bit weird but soon we got to know each other. We spent every day together in one room, 10 people very close, working together, we helped each other so the time was fantastic.

“Those guys, the first day and second day they couldn’t even speak to me but by the end they were joking with me and we were enjoying everyone together.”

Son was out injured for the final weeks before the Premier League was suspended in mid-March, but the break in the season has allowed him to recover from a fractured arm, and he is now raring to get going again.

“I’m physically fine, I’m working really, really hard to be at my maximum level and I’m nearly there,” he said.

“Now we can train together, we’re training more then the last two weeks and the players – Moussa (Sissoko) is back, Harry (Kane) is back, Stevie (Bergwijn) is back, everyone wants to play again and everyone is motivated.”
