Bournemouth v Newcastle: When is it, where can you watch it, team news and what are the odds?

When is Bournemouth v Newcastle?

Barring any health emergencies, the game is scheduled to take place on Wednesday July 1.

What time does Bournemouth v Newcastle kick-off?

The game is scheduled for a 6pm kick-off and is one of three Premier League matches in that time-slot with another to follow at 8.15pm.

What is at stake?

Without question it is far more important for Bournemouth. The Cherries go into the match in the bottom three, but within touching distance of those above them. A win would be massive in their fight for survival.

Newcastle have done well since the Premier League restarted and have eased themselves clear into mid-table. Europa League qualification is likely to be beyond them, but any relegation worries have been long forgotten about.

Where can I watch Bournemouth v Newcastle?

The match will be broadcast by Sky Sports.

Is Bournemouth v Newcastle free-to-air?

It is, yes! Sky have opted to make this one free-to-air, so watch out for it on Sky One as well as the subscription sports channels.

What is the team news?

Newcastle had a tough FA Cup quarter-final against Man City on Sunday, so Steve Bruce may opt to make changes to protect his players from injuries. Joelinton is likely to return to the starting line-up, and there may be a recall in midfield for Jonjo Shelvey. Established first-choice goalkeeper Martin Dubravka will also return between the sticks.

Callum Wilson will be missing for Bournemouth through suspension, but that loss could be offset by the likely return of Joshua King. Philip Billing is also expected to be declared fit, but Simon Francis and Charlie Daniels remain sidelined.

What happened in the reverse match?

Ciaran Clark was Newcastle’s matchwinner as they came back from a goal down to beat Bournemouth 2-1 at St James’ Park in November.

What are the odds?

The bookies are struggling to separate these two, but Bournemouth’s greater need see them installed as the 11/8 favourites. Newcastle are priced at 21/10, while the draw can be backed at 11/5.

Arsenal battle Newcastle for €35m Aubameyang replacement

Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst is the subject of interest from Premier League sides Arsenal and Newcastle United, according to reports in Germany.

The Dutch striker has scored 38 goals in 78 games for Wolfsburg since joining in summer 2018, with 20 of those goals coming this season.

Weghorst also had a respectable record of 51 goals in 124 Eredivisie games before his Bundesliga move and now he is attracting interest from Premier League clubs.

BIG MIDWEEK: Man City v Liverpool, Rashford, Mourinho

Bild (via Sport Witness) claims that Newcastle United are one of the main parties interested in the Netherlands international, while Weghorst is someone Arsenal are keeping ‘in mind’ as they search for a potential replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Aubameyang’s deal expires next summer and he was quoted this week saying he felt at “a turning point” in his career.

The Gabon international has no shortage of admirers should he decide his future lies elsewhere but Mikel Arteta has recently said he is hopeful that Aubameyang will stay at the Emirates Stadium.

However, if they do lose Aubameyang – with Barcelona understood to be interested – then Arsenal must keep their options open and Weghorst could fit the bill.

Wolfsburg are looking for at least €35m for their prolific striker with Weghorst keen on a move to the Premier League.

There has been no reported interest from Liverpool in Weghorst but the 27-year-old recently admitted his admiration of the club.

“I always found Liverpool very special,” Weghorst told Goal.

“I still get goosebumps from ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. There are other great English clubs too, and I always liked Milan because so many Dutch played there.

“I am ambitious and want to get ahead. Maybe at some point play at another club, whether in Germany or in England? But at the moment it is still far away. I feel good and try to achieve the maximum here.”

Murphy launches bizarre rant over Liverpool guard of honour

Danny Murphy claims Kevin de Bruyne will be clapping players who “can’t even lace his boots” when Manchester City give Liverpool a guard of honour on Thursday night.

It’s a tradition to give the champions a guard of honour in their remaining fixtures after being crowned champions, with Liverpool wrapping up the title when City lost to Chelsea last week.

Liverpool are currently 23 points clear of the second-placed City, who they dethroned with their first title triumph in 30 years, and Pep Guardiola confirmed that his side will lead out the Reds before clapping them onto the pitch on Thursday.

BIG MIDWEEK: Man City v Liverpool, Rashford, Mourinho

After missing out to City by a point last season, European champions Liverpool have been dominant this term, securing the title with a record seven games to spare, winning 28 of 31 matches.

But Murphy thinks the Liverpool players could be feeling “awkward” and “uncomfortable” walking past City players clapping them onto the pitch.

Murphy told talkSPORT: “It’s a perception of respect, ‘the right thing to do’, the message you’re trying to send to the football world that when somebody wins, that you show respect and grace.

“The fact City will be doing it on Thursday will show humility, saying ‘well done’ to Liverpool and appreciation for their quality.

“I think it’s a load of nonsense! I don’t know where it started and why it started, I would feel uncomfortable doing it.

“I’d do it because you have to do it, but I wouldn’t want to do it, because it’s not done with sincerity.

“If I was a Liverpool player and United won the league, you know they’re better than you, you respect that and you’re trying your best to be like them, so they know you respect them.

“The fans don’t want you to do it, the players don’t really want to do it, it’s all for effect and it doesn’t mean anything.

“Kevin De Bruyne is the best midfielder, probably, in the world, and he’s clapping his hands and giving a guard of honour to players who can’t even lace his boots!

“And if I’d won it, by the way, if I was walking through, I’d feel awkward. I’d feel uncomfortable.

“I understand why the powers that be created it, because it does give off the right message to those watching.

“But I don’t see the point.”

Derby’s Wisdom recovering after assault and robbery

Derby defender Andre Wisdom is recovering in hospital after being injured in “an unprovoked assault and robbery”, the Sky Bet Championship club have confirmed.

Wisdom is reported to have been stabbed during the robbery, which occurred in Toxteth during a visit to his relatives.

Derby said in a statement: “Derby County Football Club can confirm that Andre Wisdom has been the victim of an unprovoked assault and robbery.

BIG MIDWEEK: Man City v Liverpool, Rashford, Mourinho

“He sustained injuries which resulted in him being admitted to hospital, where he is in a stable condition.

“Merseyside police are investigating and the Club will focus its efforts on supporting Andre and his family. Therefore we will not be making any further comment at this time.”

Wisdom joined Derby from Liverpool in 2017 for a reported fee of £3million after making 14 appearances for the Reds.

He has featured in 20 games for Derby in all competitions this season and played the full 90 minutes in Saturday’s home league win against Reading.

Arsenal to pay £45.6m for Atletico midfielder as deal nears

Arsenal are ready to meet the release clause for Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey and bring him to the club this summer, according to reports.

The Gunners’ engine room is considered an area of relative weakness, with Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira often failing to provide adequate cover for a vulnerable defence.

And Arsenal have long been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid enforcer Partey, who was instrumental in knocking Liverpool out of the Champions League at the Round of 16 stage.

FEATURE: Man Utd v Liverpool…’Theatre of Dreams’ v ‘This means more’

Atletico appeared to have ruled out an exit despite the 27-year-old’s £45.6m release clause (€50m) but a report in Spain earlier this month reckoned that Atletico were now keen to ‘cash in on Partey’.

And Spanish website La Razon (via the Daily Express) now claims that Arsenal ‘will pay the clause’ to bring Partey to the Emirates Stadium with a deal ‘close’.

The report adds that the Gunners are tracking three more La Liga midfielders as part of their summer recruitment drive with Levante’s Enis Bardhi, Espanyol’s Marc Roca and Valencia’s Carlos Soler

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha recently urged his former club to bring Partey to Old Trafford, he said: “He’s a top player. He’s a defensive presence and a tremendous prospect. Whether he can make an impact right away remains to be seen, as we have McTominay, Fred and Matic.

“However, we have seen the impact that someone like Fabinho has had on Liverpool. He has mastered that position. Fabinho has improved the players around him.

“This guy is a rock, he defends in such a way that allows the Liverpool frontline to play their game knowing he’s protecting the defence. Perhaps a Fabinho-like player is already at United, but if not, then we need to find someone, whether that’s Thomas Partey or anyone else.”

Keane pinpoints Man Utd weakness as he dismisses title challenge

Roy Keane thinks Man Utd still need to strengthen their defence this summer and doubts they will challenge for a Premier League title in the next couple of years.

The Red Devils are currently on a 14-match unbeaten run in all competitions with their performances a big improvement to what fans were seeing earlier in the season.

The arrival of Bruno Fernandes in January and the potential of a midfield partnership with Paul Pogba has got a lot of supporters dreaming of titles again in the not-so-distant future.

MAILBOX: Liverpool have ‘two bigger priorities’ than replacing ‘aging’ stars

However, Keane has brought expectations back down to earth with Man Utd still “missing something”.

“They’re a few players off yet,” Keane told the Irish Independent.

“They have obviously strengthened but the table doesn’t lie. Look at their points total. I know people say they’ve had one or two decent results – against Man City and Liverpool – but it’s all about the point. They haven’t been consistent enough.

“They will certainly be pushing to get that fourth position but trying to get fourth and winning the league is a big leap. They need one or two players. I think United are short at the back.

“So, no, I don’t see United competing in the next year or two for the league. I think there’s going to be improvement and they will close the gap, but there is a bit of work to be done for Ole and the players. They’re missing something.”

Ex-Villa man picks out ‘two useless defenders’ at Arsenal

Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor has labelled Arsenal duo David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi as “useless defenders”.

Luiz and Mustafi have produced a number of below-par performances this season for for the Gunners with Mikel Arteta’s side struggling to perform in the Premier League.

Luiz put in a decent performance before being substituted with injury in their 2-1 victory over Sheffield United on Sunday but Agbonlahor is concerned by the lack of leaders in the Arsenal dressing room.

FEATURE: Hope for Sheff Utd despite their damaging return to football…

“No-one there is going to go into that changing room and absolutely scream and shout, there’s no-one,” Agbonlahor – speaking before Arsenal’s win over the Blades – told the TheConv3rsation podcast (via The Metro).

“They’ll probably be in there and just like ‘oh unlucky David Luiz let’s have a game of Nintendo DS on the coach afterwards’. There are no leaders in there, there’s no Tony Adams, Ray Parlour or Martin Keown.

“The next game Luiz plays, if he has a beast, I’m telling you Arsenal TV, Troopz and all the guys will be outside the stadium causing carnage.

“I heard on the radio the other day someone said he’s a world-class defender, he was. I remember we played against him for Villa in 2006 in a pre-season friendly. He was at Benfica and Martin O’Neill chased him around the pitch to hug him because he was so good.

“He’s had a great career but it’s like anyone, when you get that bit older you lose your legs and pace. He’s a defender that like to be so casual, he likes to have a bit of fun back there. He gets bored, he should be a defensive midfielder in a team when he’s got runners around him.

“He’ll have a bit of fun as a defensive midfielder, ping his balls and go and take some shots.

“But a centre-half? Honestly if I was anyone in this League now playing against David Luiz, my team-talk before the game as a manager would be to target him.

“Balls down the channels, because he hasn’t got the legs and he’s not a Premier League defender anymore. No offence to him, but he’s just not,  he’s not got the legs and the speed anymore.

“If there were fans in the stadium, David Luiz plays again and he makes one mistake those fans will do what they did to (Granit) Xhaka.

“Mustafi is just as bad, so to have two useless defenders…Arsenal fans must be thinking what’s going on here? From Adams and Keown to these two…”

“La Taupe” : nouvelle bande-annonce ! [VIDEO]

Quand le réalisateur de “Morse” s’attaque à un roman d’espionnage de John Le Carré, avec un casting en béton armé, ça donne “La Taupe”, thriller plus que prometteur dont une nouvelle bande-annonce est en ligne.

Click Here: New Zealand rugby store

Huge boost for Man Utd as £80m man ‘edges closer’ to move

Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish has moved to closer to a transfer to Man Utd this summer, according to reports.

The 24-year-old has been brilliant for Villa this season, contributing nine goals and six assists in all competitions, leading to interest from Man Utd.

Recent reports have claimed that Grealish has become the Red Devils’ main target, with Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho ‘undecided’ on a move to Old Trafford.

GOSSIP: Liverpool to bid for £90m man in coming days; Man Utd ‘seduced’

United see Grealish as ‘the ideal replacement’ for Juan Mata, with a £150,000-a-week contract and £75m bid mooted.

And now the Daily Express claims that a deal has moved a step closer with Grealish ‘finding a house to buy in the North-West’.

The report adds: ‘The Aston Villa star – who started his search earlier this year – has told friends that he has now found somewhere.’

Villa are still ‘determined’ to get £80m for Grealish and ‘are refusing to even consider any lower offers for him’.

Former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood recently recommended that Man Utd buy Grealish, he said: “I look at that squad now and I think they’re two or three players short of challenging for the title.

“I think they need another striker, I think they need Jack Grealish, who is a brilliant player to have when teams sit back against them like Tottenham did the other evening where he can occupy the tight areas and create something.

“I think they need another centre-back as cover. If they can get that and they have the money to be able to go out and buy them sort of players to attract them to the biggest club in the world then I think they’ll be real challengers. I think Ole’s done a brilliant building job.

“The back five picks itself, there’s a lot of good players in there. I think another centre-back would be useful to them and I think they’ll go out and get that.

“Midfield we have a lot of options if it’s not Scott McTominay it’s Matic, who has two Premier League winners’ medals to his name. He has experience of doing that.

“We have exciting players up front with a lot of pace we just need that stick-on no9 Harry Kane type – i’m not trying to sell him don’t worry Daniel [Levy]!

“But I believe that if they get that top player and i think they can because it’s Manchester United then I think they have a real chance.”
