Le script sera écrit par Jesse Armstrong (scénariste de We Are Four Lions, In the Loop).

Report claims £15m youngster could snub Man Utd over Tevez

Manchester City are hopeful of beating Man Utd to the signing of Velez Sarsfield youngster Thiago Almada, according to reports.

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly looking to bolster his options in midfield with Paul Pogba’s future up in the air.

Solskjaer is believed to be looking at young players to add to his squad and 19-year-old Almada is on his shopping list.

GOSSIP: Man Utd reignite interest in £37m Bayern man; huge Liverpool blow

On Monday, TuttoMercatoWeb claimed that Velez Sarsfield’s Almada has emerged as a target for the Red Devils as they look for more creativity in midfield.

The headline on the Italian website said ‘Manchester United, contacts have started for Almada…’ who has a €25m (£22m) release clause in his contract.

However, the report adds that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team want to land the Argentinian for €18m (£16m) despite reported interest from neighbours Man City.

And now The Sun has poured cold water on United’s chances of beating City to the youngster with Pep Guardiola ‘aiming to win the race’ for Almada.

Guardiola sees him ‘becoming David Silva’s long-term successor’ at the Etihad Stadium and now Man Utd’s interest has sparked an ‘auction’ with the cost likely to ‘be around £15million, plus extras’.

Almada counts Argentina legend Tevez ‘among his idols’ and it is his time at Man City that ‘fired his imagination’ in a move.

The report adds that Almada is ‘keen on City and wants to go there this summer’.

Rooney reveals one big Man Utd decision that ‘devastated’ him

Wayne Rooney claims that the decision by the Man Utd hierarchy to sack Louis van Gaal in 2016 “devastated” him.

The Dutchman was relieved of his duties shortly after guiding Man Utd to FA Cup glory with the the Red Devils moving to hire Jose Mourinho.

It was finishing outside the top four in the Premier League which prompted Man Utd to act but Rooney thinks the club made a mistake not keeping Van Gaal on longer.

GOSSIP: Man Utd reignite interest in £37m Bayern man; huge Liverpool blow

“I was devastated when Louis was sacked,” Rooney said in an extract from a new book, LVG – The Manager and the Total Person (via the Daily Mirror).

“For me, it was an absolute joy to work with him. We should have kept him for a third season. We would have been so much stronger.

“I felt things were improving and players started to understand his vision. In those two years I learned more than under any other manager.

“This is why I will be forever grateful to him. Not just for making me captain, but also for all the trust and belief he had in me.

“We didn’t have the best team in the league anyway, but we could not afford to have 12 players injured. Our best XI was good enough to play in the top four, but once we got injuries we got in trouble because we did not have the same quality in the squad as in the years before.

“At the time it was good for me because I had decided that I wanted to become a manager. And working with Louis in that way was priceless in my opinion, because I could learn so much from him. I could not have wished for a better example.”

Full transcript of Haaland’s post-Dortmund win interview

Erling Haaland welcomed football back with a quite sensational post-match interview on Saturday.

Major European football made its cautious return on Saturday as Germany’s Bundesliga became the first of the big five leagues to resume during the coronavirus pandemic, but amid strange new conventions there were the familiar sights of a dominant Dortmund performance and VAR controversy.

The voices of players and coaches echoed around empty stadiums, in which players wore face masks in the dressing rooms and during warm-up, respected social distancing on the benches and for the pre-match pleasantries, but then got stuck in on the pitch.

Players may still be feeling their way in after two months off, which could explain third-placed RB Leipzig dropping points at home to Freiburg.

They were grateful it was only two in a 1-1 draw, however, as the visitors were denied victory when Robin Koch’s stoppage-time goal was disallowed by VAR.

Manuel Gulde had given Freiburg a 34th-minute lead as they moved up to seventh in the table.

Daniel Ginczek struck a stoppage-time winner for Wolfsburg as they snatched a 2-1 victory at Augsburg.

Hertha Berlin seemed at home in Hoffenheim’s empty PreZero Arena as a flurry of second-half goals gave them a 3-0 away win as Bruno Labbadia won his first game in charge.

Fortuna Dusseldorf and SC Paderborn will both be grateful for the restart as it gives them at least the hope of climbing out of relegation trouble, though neither could take immediate advantage as they drew 0-0.

But by far the most eye-catching game came at the Westfalenstadion, where put pressure on leaders Bayern Munich with a thumping 4-0 win in the Revierderby against Schalke.

Erling Haaland is the clumsy, awkward force of nature

Erling Haaland opened the scoring, stroking home Thorgan Hazard’s cross and saluting the empty stands, before Raphael Guerreiro doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time.

Hazard lashed home a third three minutes into the second half before Guerreiro’s cheeky finish gave the hosts an unassailable lead.

The win puts Dortmund one point behind Bayern, who face Union Berlin on Sunday.

Haaland gave a wonderful post-match interview, the full transcript of which you can read here:

Interviewer: “After the final whistle, you and the whole teammates, you were going to the south stand, the famous Yellow Wall which was empty today, of course. Why did you do that?”

Haaland: “Why not?”

Interviewer: “Is it a kind of message you want to send out?”

Haaland: “Yes.”

Interviewer: “Would you tell us the message?”

Haaland: “To my fans.”

Interviewer: “They’re everything to you and football is to Dortmund.”

Haaland: “It is.”

Interviewer: “Thanks a lot! What a pleasure to talk to you.”

Haaland: “Thank you.”

Welcome back, football.

Reopening The Emmett Till Case Offers Some Hope For Justice

The U.S. federal government is again investigating the case of Emmett Till’s murder, the Department of Justice has announced, bringing optimism that some measure of justice might ultimately prevail.

Nearly 63 years after he was kidnapped, brutally tortured, murdered and then dumped into the Tallahatchie River in Mississippi, the Till case continues to resonate with audiences around the world because the case represents an egregious case of justice denied.

As an historian of the Mississippi civil rights movements, I quickly learned that most Mississippi civil rights history leads back to the widespread outrage over the Till case in the summer of 1955.

This article was originally published on The Conversation. Read the original article.

Emmett in Money

Fourteen-year-old Emmett arrived in Mississippi on Aug. 20, 1955 from Chicago to visit his mother’s family, who sharecropped cotton in the tiny Delta community of Money.

On the evening of Aug. 24, Emmett and several cousins and neighbors drove the 2.8 miles into Money to buy candy at the Bryant Grocery and Meat Market.

Emmett entered the store alone. He bought two cents worth of bubble gum and left. At the door Emmett let out a loud, two-note wolf whistle directed at white 21-year-old Carolyn Bryant. His cousins were terrified: Emmett had just hit the trip wire of Southern racial fears by flirting with a white woman.

Early on Aug. 28, several men – white and black – took Emmett from his family’s house. Emmett’s badly decomposed and battered body was discovered three days later in the Tallahatchie River. Emmett’s uncle could only identify Emmett by a ring he was wearing that once belonged to Emmett’s father, Louis Till.

Two white men, Roy Bryant and J. W. Milam, were quickly arrested and later charged with murder. During a five-day trial in September, the two men were found not guilty after a 67-minute deliberation by an all-white, all-male jury.

Several years later, members of the jury confessed to a Florida State University graduate student, Hugh Stephen Whitaker, that they knew the men were guilty but simply wouldn’t convict a white man of crimes against a black child.

In 1956, Milam and Bryant sold their “shocking true story” of what happened to Till for US$3,150 to Look Magazine. For nearly 50 years, Celebrity journalist William Bradford Huie’s “confession” story in Look functioned as the final word on the case.

Till then and now

Southern newspapers wanted immediately to forget the Till story, ashamed of the backlash caused by Milam and Bryant’s “confession.” Many northern and western newspapers editorialized on the case long after its conclusion. America’s black press never quit writing about the case; it was their work, after all, helping to track down black eyewitnesses in September 1955 that helped us understand the truth of what actually happened to Emmett Till on Aug. 28, 1955.

Thanks to investigative work by documentary filmmaker Keith Beauchamp and others, the public has since learned that Milam and Bryant were part of a much larger lynching party, none of whom were ever punished.

Today, all of the people directly involved in Till’s murder are dead – save for one: Carolyn Bryant Donham. Eighty-four years old and living with family in Raleigh, North Carolina, FBI investigators and federal prosecutors have had their eyes on Bryant-Donham for several years. Whether she was a willing participant in Till’s kidnap and murder or, as her family claims, she tried to protect Emmett from harm, she remains the focus of the announcement from the Department of Justice.

The Till case continues to resonate, especially for a nation which still experiences the all-too-frequent and seemingly unprovoked deaths of young black men. Whether it’s the Bay County, Florida murder of Martin Lee Anderson or the Sanford, Florida killing of Trayvon Martin, Emmett Till’s murder powerfully represents myriad acts of white-on-black killing that have gone unpunished. The Black Lives Matter movement might have received a jolt from the shooting death of Michael Brown, but long before Ferguson there was Money, Emmett and a whistle.

Thugs Thwarted By 'Hero' Gas Station Clerk Armed With Lock, Phone

WATERFORD, CA — When a woman walked into a Waterford gas station last week saying she had been kidnapped and her armed abductors were waiting outside, the cashier dialed 911, handed the woman the cellphone and locked her inside a restroom. And even though she doesn’t want to be called a hero, authorities say the cashier’s actions saved the woman’s life.

The woman walked in to the Triple R Gas And Mart station Wednesday “begging for help,” the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department said in a Facebook post over the weekend. The woman had been abducted by multiple men from Fresno County and sexually assaulted.

“This woman came in, grabbed me asked me for help and told me she was kidnapped,” the cashier told Patch. Patch is not identifying the woman to protect her identity. “She said the guys had her cellphone, threw it out the window and were holding her at gunpoint and sexually assaulted her.”

The woman told the cashier her abductors had stopped for gas and were headed to San Francisco.

“When she grabbed me she was terribly shaking,” the cashier said. “In her eyes you could see she had no pupils. Her eyes were so shaky. She was very scared. I would say petrified.”

Surveillance footage obtained by ABC News showed the clerk escort the woman to a restroom and lock her inside after handing her a cellphone. The clerk then unlocked the door to let the alleged kidnappers into the store.

The cashier said she knew the abductors.

“I was very confused,” she said. “The guys she was with are my regular customers. I would see them every day, sometimes three times a day. So I was a little bit confused.”

The cashier said she wasn’t concerned for her own safety and tried to stay as calm as possible.

“They didn’t even know I was helping the girl,” the cashier said. “They had no idea that the girl came in and called the sheriff.

She unlocked the door and one of the suspects came into the store. Minutes later, officers swarmed the station with their firearms pointed at the suspects. They suspects started “freaking out,” the cashier said. (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest news from your California neighborhood. Also, download the free Patch iPhone app or free Patch Android app. Also, be sure to follow your local Patch on Facebook!)

“The one that I was inside with was asking me ‘Please don’t open the door. Hide me. Put me where that girl is,'” she said.

Three youths were taken into custody along with 18-year-old Anthony Sandoval. Sgt. Tom Letras told Patch that one of the suspects tried to hide a handgun on a shelf. Another was found in the suspects’ car.

The suspects were affiliated with the Norteños, a violent street gang based in northern California, Letras said. The gas station clerk knew at least some of the suspects, all from the Waterford area, because they frequented the store.

Letras said Wednesday’s incident started a day earlier when the four suspects planned to rob someone at another gas station just outside of town.

“They robbed a guy at gunpoint and then from there they decided to go to Fresno County,” he said. “They ended up coming across this girl and held her against her will overnight and she was sexually assaulted.”

Letras noted that not all four suspects sexually assaulted the victim. The following day, the suspects drove back to Waterford and stopped to get gas. The victim was rescued after telling her abductors she needed to use the restroom.

“She tells the clerk, ‘Help! They have guns. They’re going to kill me. They’re not letting me go,” Letras said.

Two suspects were taken into custody at the scene. Investigators later identified and arrested two additional suspects in the case.

“Since all this has went down, two of the suspects have basically confessed and corroborated our victim’s story as to the chain of events and things that happened, including the robbery that the sexual assault victim wasn’t even there for,” Letras said.

The victim was an adult but authorities didn’t immediately know her age.

The sheriff’s office called the gas station attendant “a true hero.”

“When we work together, we can do great things in our community,” the office said.

The gas station worker doesn’t want to be called a hero and is just glad she got to help the woman.

Authorities say the suspects face charges including armed robbery, sexual assault, gun counts and kidnapping.

Letras told Patch his office cannot release the surveillance video. He noted authorities have not received any credible threats against the gas station attendant — whose name was not released by the sheriff’s office — but was concerned about possible gang retaliation.

PA Man Wanted For Trump Threats Still On Run As Rally Nears

Federal authorities continue the search for a man accused of threatening to shoot Donald Trump as the president prepares to arrive in the state for a Make America Great Again Rally Thursday in Wilkes-Barre, just 30 miles from the hometown of fugitive Shawn Christy.

The FBI is offering a reward of $10,000 for any information leading to Christy’s arrest. Christy, 26, of McAdoo, Pennsylvania, is facing federal charges for making social media threats against the president in June.

Christy allegedly posted on Facebook that he was going to shoot President Trump and that he would use “lethal force” on any law enforcement officer attempting to detain him. The posts were made between June 3 and June 12, the FBI said.

A federal arrest warrant was issued for Christy by the United States District Court, Middle District of Pennsylvania, Wilkes-Barre on June 19. He has been charged with Interstate Communication of Threats and Threats Against the President of the United States.

Authorities have been searching for him since then. Authorities believe Christy stole a school van from Luzerne County on July 29. However, that van was found today (Thursday, Aug. 2) in the area of Nitro, West Virginia, the FBI confirmed.

Christy is believed to be armed and dangerous.

“The FBI and our law enforcement partners are working around the clock to locate Shawn Christy. As he’s considered armed and dangerous, we are concerned about the safety of anyone who may encounter him, including law enforcement and members of the public,” FBI spokeswoman Carrie Adamowski said.

The FBI asks residents to remain vigilant and report any sightings of Christy to law enforcement as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, President Trump’s Make America Great Again rally starts at 7 p.m at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre. Doors open at 4 p.m. Watch the rally live here.

– L’étude démontre pour la première fois l’existence d’un « effet-dose », c’est-à-dire que le risque augmente avec la concentration de THC (principe actif du cannabis) dans le sang ;
– Le nombre de victimes imputable au cannabis serait de l’ordre de 220 morts par an sur les routes, dont une grande part a moins de 25 ans ;
Concernant l’alcool
– Conduire sous l’emprise de l’alcool multiplie le risque d’avoir un accident mortel par 8,5. L’effet-dose de l’alcool est confirmé avec une multiplication du risque qui peut atteindre 40 pour des alcoolémies supérieures à 2 g/l ;

Alerte !
