[MISE A JOUR]

L.A. à pied. Rôdant. Chassant. (source : Coming Soon)]

Will Smith face à Russell Crowe dans “A Winter’s Tale”

Click:electric cargo tricycle manufacturer

Ramsey reveals being starstruck by three ‘really cool guys’ at Arsenal

Aaron Ramsey says he found himself starstruck by Cesc Fabregas, William Gallas and Kolo Toure when he arrived at Arsenal as a 17-year-old.

The midfielder moved to the Emirates Stadium in 2008 when Arsenal paid £4.8m to Cardiff City for the Welshman, who went on to appear 369 times in all competitions for the Gunners.

Ramsey joined Juventus last summer for free after his Arsenal deal expired but has struggled to make his mark in Serie A, with just four goals in 24 appearances.

FEATURE: Premier League XIs: The Welsh wonders…

Speaking on Instagram Live with Niall Horan, Ramsey said: “It happened so quickly at Cardiff. I played the final game of the season before and then had a pre-season, went off with first-team, we had a mad cup run where we got to the final and that was it then. It was done within the year.

“All my life I’ve been trying to achieve this thing of playing for Cardiff and then the next thing I know I’m walking into a dressing room with the likes of Fabregas, Gallas and Toure.

“I’m 17 years old, I’m just like, ‘What’s going on here?!’. I just felt out of place but they were really cool guys, made you feel really welcome but still you had to pinch yourself.

“Wenger was a massive pull. He would give youngsters opportunities, he talked me through how he saw my career path going, how he wanted to improve me and what I needed to improve on.

“He brought me straight into the first-team to train every day with these world-class players and he believed in me.

“I just felt he really wanted and felt like he made the most effort to try and secure me.”

Arsenal overruled scouting department to make two signings in 2016

Arsenal ignored advice from their own scouting department to complete two signings in the summer of 2016, according to reports.

The two players were Shkodran Mustafi, who arrived from Valencia for £35m, and Lucas Perez, who made the £17.1m switch from Deportivo La Coruna.

Mustafi has spent most of his time at Arsenal trying to win over the fans and critics, while Perez made 21 appearances for the club and now finds himself back in Spain with Alaves.

FEATURE: Premier League XIs: The awesome A-Team

The Athletic claims that Gunners’ head of international scouting, Francis Cagigao, and his scouting department warned against signing the two players but the club was convinced by the analytics.

The Athletic explains:

“One such case was Shkodran Mustafi. When Arsenal were on the hunt for a new centre-half in the summer of 2016, the German did not figure on the scouting department’s list of recommendations. The statistics made a compelling case for the player and the scouting reports were overruled.

“In the same summer, Arsenal signed Lucas Perez from Deportivo de La Coruna. The club had intended to buy Jamie Vardy, triggering his release clause before the striker decided to remain at Leicester. Perez was on the brink of a move to Everton when an agent working on the deal asked Cagigao whether he’d considered him an option for Arsenal. “Not a chance,” was Cagigao’s response. “He’s a mid-table player.”

“With Arsenal against the clock and under pressure to bring in a striker, they decided to sign Perez anyway. Again, statistics were a factor. That’s the nature of any transfer window: sometimes the deals you can do — the deals you have to do — are not the deals you’d ideally want to do.”

Ighalo credits three Man Utd players for making him feel at home

Odion Ighalo says that Manchester United trio Juan Mata, David de Gea and Sergio Romero have made him feel like a “brother” since his arrival at Old Trafford.

Ighalo has made a positive first impression since joining Man Utd on loan from Shanghai Shenhua in January, scoring in each of the three games he has started.

Talk of a permanent transfer once his loan expires has already arisen, although Shanghai may try and get him to return to China given his impressive form.

FEATURE: Every Premier League team’s greatest (and next?) one-club man

However, if he stays at Man Utd, he will have no trouble settling in to his new permanent surroundings, given the way he has already integrated into the group.

Now, the Nigerian striker has revealed the secret to how he became so comfortable among his teammates so quickly.

“I have a lot of guys there who have helped me. The guys in the dressing room are very good guys,” Ighalo said in an Instagram Q&A session (via the Metro).

“The first time I stepped my feet in that dressing room – wow. There are two or three players that took me and made me feel welcome and comfortable.

“After two or three days we started living like brothers, like I’ve been there for five years, laughing together and cracking jokes together.

“Especially Juan Mata, De Gea and the other goalkeeper Romero, because they speak Spanish and I speak Spanish.”

Ighalo previously spent four years at Granada – all on loan from sister club Udinese – hence his Spanish connection.

Meanwhile, Man Utd have reportedly decided on the three positions they want to strengthen in the summer, while five players are set to leave Old Trafford.

Counterfeit Alcohol Is A Growing Concern For Tourists Abroad

By Monica H. Swahn/Georgia State University via The Conversation

The news about the tragic deaths of several American tourists in the Dominican Republic in May 2019 has created an outcry and a media frenzy. As of June 30, there were at least nine deaths with similar circumstances in the past few months. The FBI and Dominican authorities are investigating, and one theory is that alcohol was the cause of these deaths.

The FBI has reportedly taken samples of alcohol for testing, and the hotels where some tourists died have removed alcohol from the minibars in the hotel rooms. But the concerns are growing, and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on June 30, 2019 recommended that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention should aid the ongoing investigation.

Many may find it puzzling that alcohol, particularly adulterated or counterfeit alcohol, could possibly have caused these deaths. But, some experts seem to agree that the symptoms and circumstances fit the indicators of deaths caused by adulterated alcohol.

As a professor of public health, I need to note that research now shows that no amount of alcohol is considered safe in terms of your health, and that alcohol is linked to many cancers and heart disease and is also a key contributor to traffic crashes, violence and suicide. Even so, counterfeit or illegally made alcohol brings a new level of risk, as it is not monitored for safety and may include added ingredients, such as methanol, known to be extremely harmful to health.

Fake, illegal and adulterated

Thanks to rigorous regulation of alcohol, Americans may not see or hear much about counterfeit alcohol in the U.S., but in many other parts of the world counterfeit or “illegal” alcohol is more common and a growing public health concern.

Counterfeit or illegal alcohol is part of a larger category described as “unrecorded” alcohol because it is not recorded in official statistics and not monitored for quality or for taxation. The World Health Organization estimates that 25% of the alcohol consumed worldwide is unrecorded.

Counterfeit alcohol is typically meant to resemble legitimate alcohol, such as finer wines and expensive spirits, in terms of its look, taste and packaging. But there are also other types of alcohol that are typically considered illegal, such as “moonshine” or “bootleg” alcohol, or simply alcohol that is made under less rigorous processes and that have added ingredients to make the alcohol faster or cheaper.

One of the key aspects of counterfeit or illegal alcohol is that producers distill the alcohol more cheaply and quickly using dangerous shortcuts in the process, such as adding water and methanol, also known as methyl alcohol, which is highly toxic. Methanol is not intended for human consumption and can cause liver damage, blindness and death if consumed. Earlier this year, toxic alcohol killed at least 154 people in India because it was tainted with methanol.

Alcohol that has special ingredients added is usually described as adulterated alcohol. Sometimes, those who make counterfeit alcohol will add ingredients not only to make it cheaper but also to improve the taste or strengthen the high. The added ingredients may vary.

For example, in Kenya, one of the popular illegally brewed types of alcohol is called Chang-aa or “Kill me quick.” That is because it usually has a very high alcohol concentration and is often also adulterated with harmful ingredients such as pilfered jet fuel or spiked with embalming fluid from mortuaries. This type of alcohol is usually consumed in the urban slums among those vulnerable and poor who want the cheapest type of alcohol with the biggest “high.”

Siphoning sales from legit booze

INTERPOL, the International Criminal Police Organization, claims that counterfeit alcohol is a top concern globally. In 2018, during one operation, it reported that “16,000 tonnes and 33 million liters of potentially dangerous fake food and drink was seized worth an estimated $117 million.” In Europe, wine and spirits are in the top five sectors for lost sales.

Counterfeit wine is becoming more common and now represents a billion-dollar market. In China, for example, counterfeit wine is so common it has been referred to as an epidemic, especially in terms of finer wines.

According to Forbes, Asian buyers comprise the majority of buyers of fine wines (60%) sold at Sotheby auctions across the world. And, it turns out that a very expensive bottle of wine sold at Christie’s in London for US$157,000, which set a record at that time in 1985, was a fake.

But even more recently, in May 2019, an operation in Ukraine seized a large operation of counterfeit alcohol beverages.

More than money at stake

Even though lost revenue is a big concern for law enforcement and businesses, travel advisories for Americans traveling abroad are sometimes issued because of the risk posed by tainted alcohol. One was issued in 2017 to a resort in Mexico. Similarly, in June 2019, there was a notification that 23 people died and 10 patients were undergoing treatment for alcohol tainted with methanol in Nigeria.

The reality is that counterfeit or toxic alcohol is common in many places of the world, even in places you may not expect. So the next time you travel abroad and reach for an alcoholic beverage, particularly a finer wine or spirit, take a second look at that bottle.

The travel experts at the U.S. Overseas Security Advisory Council made a list of tips for alcohol consumption while abroad. In particular, they recommend to tourists traveling abroad:

Also, there are some tips for spotting fake alcohol by the Trading Standards Institute in the U.K. It is key to remember to pay attention to the place, price, packaging and product, the group says. Most importantly, if the alcohol tastes or smells bad, don’t drink it.

The medical and public health community is growing more concerned about the dangerous effects of alcohol, as new research show that there is no safe amount of alcohol. That said, if you choose to drink, especially while abroad, make sure the alcohol you drink is the real thing, and keep it shaken or stirred, but not poisoned.

Venomous Water Moccasin Bite Captured On Doorbell Camera

PEMBROKE PINES — The moment a venomous water moccasin snake struck a Florida man was caught on a video doorbell camera. The incident happened recently in a housing complex less than 25 miles from Miami.

“He looked down and found he had been bitten by a poisonous water moccasin,” explained Lt Chris Pecori of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Venom One Unit, which was called in to deliver anti-venom to the Broward County hospital where the man sought treatment.

Pecori said the man was just walking out of his home one night when he encountered the slithery predator.

He can be seen on video jumping back after the snake bites him.

“He went to a local hospital where he was seeking treatment,” said Pecori. “Venom One was able to bring anti-venom and assist in the treatment.”

Miami-Dade’s Venom One unit maintains the largest and only antivenom bank for public use in the United States and provides antivenom to hospitals in and out of the Miami area.

“This individual was able to make a full recovery with no disabilities,” Pecori added.

Mississippi Walmart Shooting Leaves 2 Dead; Officer Shot: Reports

SOUTHHAVEN, MS — Two people are dead and a police officer was shot at a Walmart store in Southaven, Mississippi, Tuesday morning, according to news reports. DeSoto County Sheriff Bill Rasco said two people were found dead at the scene of the shooting, which occurred around 6:30 a.m. local time.

The police officer was taken to a hospital for treatment, but is expected to survive. The officer was reportedly wearing a bulletproof vest.

A Southhaven police officer shot the shooter, whose condition was not immediately available, according to news station KRON.

Multiple injuries were reported, and police asked people to avoid the area near Interstate 55 and Goodman Road, where the store is located.

One of those killed was the manager of the store, WREG reported. The news outlet described the suspect as a “disgruntled employee,” and a reporter for Local24, citing employees, said the shooter had worked at the tore for 25 years before he was recently fired.

Both of those killed were employees of the store, the Local24 report said.

Carlos Odom told CNN gunshots rang out as he walked out of the store.

“I heard a bunch of gunshots,” he said. “Pop pop pop pop — more than a dozen shots.”

Odom said his first thought was “run!” and dashed to his car.

“This is crazy,” he said. “The world is crazy nowadays.”

Southhaven, Mississippi’s third-largest city with a population of about 49,000, is a suburb of Memphis, Tennessee.
